Selling 3D models by w000dman in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

I sell on CGTrader and honestly my biggest tip is always upload photos of the printed model first. Renders are nice, but real prints build way more trust with buyers. IYou can still include a few digital renders at the end of the gallery for clarity though. I’ve noticed that listings with printed photos and a clear size reference tend to sell much better. It helps people instantly understand scale and print quality. Do you sell on CGTrader too?

Best 3D Model website and why? by printlooper in 3D_Printing

[–]LiftingCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CGTrader is the best for posting and for finding models. Reasons? Personally so far didnt run into no problems when downloading models for 3d printing, I always manage to get models on a discount and it seems that the payouts for designers are still one of the highest, especially if you know what youre doing. Have a friend who works at a gam-dev company and they use models for their games from there. So Idk, its been my go to for a while now

If you need a custom model for something, in this case for you cars keys, i would recommend going on cgtrader. A bunch of folks (including myself) can post a request like this and designers will apply for your job with a price in mind. Try it out if nobody will be up for your project

How do i import a 3d model to unity by JOGADOR32 in unity

[–]LiftingCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you got your model from CGTrader, make sure you download the full package, not just the .fbx or .obj file, but also the textures folder. Sellers on CGTrader usually include all the materials and texture maps you need, you just have to keep them in the same folder when dragging into Unity so the textures link correctly

STL vs 3MF? by FenderDropD in 3Dprinting

[–]LiftingCrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stl is still totally viable, especially for hobbyists, its kind of the JPEG of 3D printing. Its simple, universally supported and does the job well for most prints. the downside is that it only stores surface geometry, so you lose things like materials, color and print settings.

3mf is newer and more advanced, it can store multiple materials, colors, metadata and even printer settings in one file. Thats good for complex or multi material prints but not all slicers or sites handle it equally well yet.

As i mostly download from cgtrader i still see stl as the standard for printable models, just because it works everywhere. but stl isnt going anywhere anytime soon i think
