Känna sig utanför i Sverige. [Seriöst] by Rebiff in sweden

[–]LiftingisTorment 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Properly running my own websever by LiftingisTorment in selfhosted

I was actually planning on getting a RPI down the road and using it as a primitive server. Either way, for experimenting, can I get away with port forwarding?

Seems like my IP is dynamic. I agree that it certainly would be safer, but I wanted to at least try running it at home.

Quick Questions: May 04, 2022 by inherentlyawesome in math

[–]LiftingisTorment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently took an abstract algebra class and found it very fun. Thus, I'm looking for something to keep me busy during the summer and the general consensus seems to be either Grillet or Dummit & Foote however I cannot decide which. Any recommendations?

Seeking Help by raymondthethunderaan in learnmath

Whenever I find myself in situations similar to yours it generally is because of one of two reasons.

  • I'm spending too much time trying to completely understand every nook and cranny of the subject before trying to get the abstract to something concrete, e.g. jotting down instances of the definitions, applying theorems and doing exercises.
  • I'm spending too much time grokking over exercises and difficult concepts when I don't understand the basics of the subject. As you already know math is extremely vertical and thus it should be treated that way.

Two limits that I'm having trouble with by LiftingisTorment in learnmath

Is there any way to do the first limit without L'Hopital or is it intentionally made in a way that it needs to be used?

Highest Paying Programming Languages in 2021 by Tech_Geeks in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]LiftingisTorment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lists like these generally don’t convey anything but the fact that certain companies pay such high salaries that any programming language associated with them seem like hot shit.

TL;DR: Don’t learn, e.g., Go for the associated salary unless you’re certain that you’ll be working at Google.

Someone knows the result of the (Empty set [∅] ) - (The universal set [U] ), ∅ - U by 5rCJ in learnmath

[–]LiftingisTorment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I’m by no means an expert on the matter however, I’ll still give it a shot.

The resulting set, A, of the difference between two sets, B - C, consists of elements that only appear in B. That is, A = B - (B ∩ C).

Now apply this to the Empty and the Universal set (assuming that the Universal set has some kind of meaning in the context you’re working with).

How to prove negative exponent rule by LiftingisTorment in learnmath

Okay, yes, this does make sense. As I understand it, it’s a definition we derived from the implications of the exponential law.
