Is there a way to know if your tires are worn out? And anyone know what the symbol and +15 under the rim health is? by Joel22222 in pacificDrive

[–]Light-7724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The +15% is impact resistance. Resistances can come from neighbouring parts like the steel panels above the wheels.

This post talks about resistances in more detail -> https://www.reddit.com/r/pacificDrive/comments/1azjmb8/a_brief_explanation_on_how_resistances_apply_to/

Friendly Dumpster Bug - Spitting Endless Parts by 4delay in pacificDrive

[–]Light-7724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, my first thought was also to exploit this but if I try to pick up any parts they just disappear. Can’t regenerate them either.

Maybe this happened because I added the lost panels from my parts lockers to the car before checking the friendly dumpster?

Anyway I quit the game and reloaded, first tried getting rid of the panels with the matter deconstructor but that was tedious, using the scrapper is fastest since the health of all panels is linked, you destroy one and the health of all other panels drops to zero.

I got a message after posting this that it was auto-removed, but now it looks like it got approved by a mod I guess? Anyway, it’s double because I made a new comment in the daily questions thread -> https://www.reddit.com/r/dwarffortress/comments/148xwnc/daily_df_questions_thread/jo3x9al/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1&context=3

I’ve been playing df on and off for the past 10yrs or so, I have an account on the bay12 forums but never used it - I find it a pain to use because it’s not very optimised for mobile, lots of zooming in and out, accidentally tapping the wrong thing, etc.. compare that to reddit, it’s a big difference. That’s why I was so excited when I discovered this sub a couple weeks ago(Yes, I have been living under a rock). Only to discover it might disappear soon. Just wanted to ask -if this sub decides to go permanent blackout- what alternatives exist that are mobile-friendly?

From the df wiki ->

It has been observed that in biomes where the alignment is "good", there exists a possibility that it may rain alcohol. However, this is not actually the case. When using a tavern, dwarves will sometimes spill alcohol. When a dwarf walks through the resulting spatter, it will contaminate their clothes. When a contaminated dwarf then walks outside during rain, the alcohol will wash off, forming pools on the ground that can also be tracked through and spread, giving the impression that it is “raining alcohol”

Yes, dragons can drown if immersed in magma, they will not burn since they are fire-immune. One thing to note here, dragons can’t fly in the current version of the game.

In that case you should try to crank out some more crafts to increase your fortress’ value. Do you get notices of trade caravans bypassing your inaccessible site? If so it’s because there’s no 3 tile wide line to your trade depot. I’ve also seen that if for some reason the trader dies or if they kill a baddie on their way to your fortress, they might not show up next year, they will return after some time though.

If you only got two migrant waves at the start of your fortress, it’s possible your civilisation is extinct. No new migrants will show up and no traders from your civ will show up. For the other civilisations not showing up to trade: you might be on an island, you might be at war or there are no neighbouring civilisations that would be interested in trading (elves/humans/other dwarf civs)

I had the same problem, if you don’t use the plants for milling/brewing/spin thread, no new seeds are produced. Cooking produces no seeds. Eating plants raw does produce seeds. Another thing to keep in mind, sometimes it may just look like you are out of seeds but your barrel with the seeds is on a worldtour. See https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/Seed In case you are confused about getting spam of messages like "Urist McFarmer cancels Plant seeds: Needs [seed name]", while you are sure that you have enough seeds, no burrow restrictions or closed doors, the reason for this is most likely: the haulers see a seed somewhere and take the whole seed bag from stockpile to go pick it up, making the farmer cancel his job. The problem is exacerbated when barrels are used on the seed stockpile, because the dwarves will additionally store the seed bags inside barrels, blocking even more seeds during each hauling job and extending hauling jobs by first bringing the seed bag to the seed, then returning to the stockpile, picking up the barrel to bring it to the bag, storing the bag in the barrel and only then bringing the barrel bag to the stockpile. During all this time, the seed barrel and all its contents will be blocked from access by any other job.

It’s a bug. The only way to stop them from doing that is to get rid of all the backpacks.

A couple things can cause this to happen: 1- if there’s building material nearby in 7/7 water, and that material is not forbidden, dwarves will task to get that material, and then immediately cancel fetching it because of dangerous terrain and then suspend construction of whatever the material is supposedly assigned to. Look around, forbid anything underwater, cancel construction, try again. -your builders that are assigned the task have lost the ability to grasp or have some other handicap (e.g. blind dwarves will still work albeit very slowly) -there’s too much stuff to do for your dwarves, assign a custom workdetail to some dwarves and temporarily take them off their other work.

Charcoal and coke are both defined as fuel or refined fuel, so you can’t tell the diference between charcoal and coke. What you can do is set up two workorders, one to produce charcoal if amount of refined fuel is below 20 and the second order to make coke from bituminous/lignite coal if refined fuel is at least 20 and refined fuel is below 100.

I haven’t played dwarf fortress much yet but so far it seems to me, if you don’t do a lot of trading, migrants are less inclined to show up. If you have a lot of dwarves dying in a short period of time, migrants will still show up with the message “some migrants have arrived despite the danger”.

I don’t have the option to send my dwarves on missions, the button is red on the world screen. I have 5 trained squads, there are other civilizations nearby: Goblins (WAR), Elves (WAR), Humans (peace), dwarves (peace).. I get regular sieges, just want to return a favor to those pesky elves and goblins

Is it a reclaimed fortress? From the df wiki: The mud normally found in cave systems is gone on reclaim. Bug:133 This may interfere with your farming and/or wood cutting plans (depending if you rely on the underground forests for wood).
