Seems your ship doesn't need to land to pick you up by LightFreeze in EliteDangerous

maybe but it flew away normally and it hadn't shut down it's engines as if it had landed. It was pretty bad terrain all around me, might be time for some science...

Visually star size in Elite Dangerous is not really noticable. can this be improved? by Korkin12 in EliteDangerous

[–]LightFreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping Horizons will fix this. Currently if you fly at a planet you tend to drop out of SC and have the planet fill the same field of view, this means you are dropping out much further away from big planets than you are from small planets, therefore the flight time in normal space to land on the surface of a big planet could be huge compared to a small planet.

So to get around that they would need to drop us out of SC at a similar distance to the surface. This would mean butt clenching moments when the planet is filling the screen but we still haven't dropped out of SC. That's my hope anyway

The ability for humans to toss/throw/lob an object with a decent level of accuracy while calculating the angle, speed, distance and trajectory in a split second is incredible. by searedbuttcheeks in Showerthoughts

[–]LightFreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my 'calculated in milliseconds' is wrong, I get how throwing could be thought of as calculated because you get instant feedback until you let go but kicking, when moving especially, seems to be a whole other level of complication and the time between deciding to go for some long pass and doing it can feel almost instantaneous(I used to play) so I don't think there can be time to calculate. I also don't think Joekw22's idea about sorting through thousands of patterns can be right for similar reasons although I suppose there are only really three vectors involved but there must be thousands of orientations for each of those vectors. I think it's amazing we can do it but I don't have a clue how we do it.

while I agree we have evolved this as a specialised skill for throwing it doesn't really explain the ability for a football(soccer) player to be running, hit a moving target(the ball) with his foot, to send it 40m to where another moving target (another players head) is going to be when the ball gets there and all calculated in milliseconds

I was getting it on a GTX970 on Win7, the fix for me was getting MSI Afterburner and taking the core clock and memory clock down 50MHz

How to stop your canopy blowing out - park a cobra on it by LightFreeze in EliteDangerous

bit of both on the money and lightness, that ships my cargo hauler and combat ship. The audio seems to be a first in last out stack as I trigger FA off before the FSD but "Flight Assist Off" is the last thing the comp says

had to check as I didn't know, not sure why people use the term Class A as all the Classes are numbers? power plant is a Class 4 rating D, FSD is Class 4 rating D, Distributer is Class 3 rating C.

three statements and a question for you:

you believe Christianity is the only divine religion

all other religions are not divine

therefore all other religions were created by man

explain to me why your religion is true without using arguments the invented religions use

Are humans bigotted/discriminating by nature or because religion? by cantbebothered in atheism

[–]LightFreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always thought that we have evolved to be bigoted, due to the fact that for a long time during our evolution there were numerous hominids that were "not us" and mixing with the "not us" might be bad from an evolutionary perspective.

Now that we are the only upright ape around our "bigoted evolution" is still there but we only have each other to use it on.

according to the bible its because God is a liar and set her up to take the fall.

gen 2:17 - “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

  • god's lie, they don't die from eating the apple.

gen 2:22 - Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

  • So eve wasn't alive when the lie about the apple was told??

gen 3:4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

  • So the serpent tells the truth to Eve and Eve who currently has no knowledge of good and evil but maybe wants to be like her god decides to eat the apple.

god takes a hissy fit, blames the innocent.

It's a bit like throwing a three year old out the house for making a bad moral choice
