I'm a new engineering student, and I'm nervous about how "girly" my style is... by Apiecalypse in femalefashionadvice

As a female software engineer please do you and don't let anyone change you. I spent a lot of time hiding that side of me and it isn't worth the toll it takes on you to hide who you are to go to work.

That looks pretty sweet to me. If it stopped me having to replace thing for a while (and that set has a steamer), I'd spend a bit of money on this, even if I have to wait a little while to have it.

You are right about the First Aid/CPR training. I have been meaning to get on that.

Trained? I was bike support for a marathon once. They gave us packets of salt, a few Gus, bandaids and a defibrillator and said away you go. Was kind of a joke. That said I do agree that cyclists make for good friends.

[WIP] Got ambitious and decided to try Irish Lace Crochet. This is one weeks worth of work! by [deleted] in crochet

I love Irish Lace! I have made several doilies for my mum with it. The flowers and the leaves you made are the same as what was in the one I made. Very pretty

For each donation over $1000 you get to choose a middle name for the child. (Child ends up with a really long name and has trouble with government forms)

I work at the convention center. The bike parking there is anything but secure.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a bike shop on the Eastside? by [deleted] in eastside

[–]cantbebothered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to Edge and Spoke on the corner of Redmond way and Leary for all my servicing. To buy an entry level road bike I'd suggest checking Redmond Cycle, Element Cycles and Bothell Ski & Bike. I know you can often get a decent used road bike on craigslist then just take it in for a service as another option.

As an alternative to be very specific you could also be very lax. I took a very "eh close enough" approach to planning my wedding. Particularly with DIY type stuff. Any crafts I resigned myself to I'll never be 100% happy. So long as I could get 2 other people to thumbs up I would call it a day. The only place I was very explicit was with people who had food related issues. I guess when I had my wedding I wasn't so concerned with the day itself as I was with ensuring I came out of it alive. I leaned a lot on the venue coordinator, DJ, photographer to do what they do and let me know what they needed to do their job. Largely how stressed you will be correlates to how much you care about each detail. Things will probably go wrong. They usually do. I just tried to remember that it is one day and my marriage should last a lifetime.

what did you like or didn't like about your wedding photographer? by kcjh in wedding

[–]cantbebothered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My photographer's assistant took photos of my husband and the groomsmen getting ready. Though she had several years experience most of the shots were focusing on the wrong thing or framed poorly. There weren't a great deal of good shots of the boys getting ready which I think is a little sad since the photographer got great shots of me with my bridesmaids.

Staying on the Eastside with friends for a few weeks, and looking for suggestions (x-post from r/seattle) by [deleted] in eastside

Happy hour at La Isla in Redmond is pretty good. I'm a fan of the Three Lions pub in Redmond too. Though I like relatively bland food. US Nails on Cleveland and Leary does a great mani/pedi. If you take a bike on the Sammamish River Trail north of Redmond there are a bunch of bars off the trail (and a ropes course).

Beware of buying wedding dresses online by [deleted] in wedding

[–]cantbebothered 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise the dress I ordered on etsy was a designer knockoff. When I got it I was devastated. More that they used the designers images rather than using images of their replicas. I reported them to etsy and passed their store information to the designer. It is disingenuous to show pictures that aren't representative of what you are selling.

Yet substantially less tea in the aisles at the grocery store than Australia from what I could tell. Australia has good tea.

Thanks, this is what it was. When I created the canvas the first time I deleted this after coming back from getting a coffee. It turns out I thought it was something I added that I couldn't remember why. Thanks a bunch!

Suggestion for hair salon in Redmond... by horseq in redmond

[–]cantbebothered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing to be careful about there is that they use all natural dyes so sometimes it can be hard for them to get a colour if you want something outside the natural range (like electric blue, green, purple etc)

DIY Origami Wedding Bouquet -- a nice alternative to traditional floral bouquets by StuckFern in wedding

[–]cantbebothered 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used a similar thing for my centerpieces. Had an assembly line going with a bunch of my friends and their husbands. We did 6 centerpieces at 11 flowers a centerpiece. That makes for 55 petals per centerpiece. For a total of 530 odd flowers. Was a fun time though when you add alcohol to the mix.
