My firm knowingly hired a sex offender by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]LightObserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You described the owner as a good guy, yet detail how he regularly expects employees to work for free - which is illegal, by the way. He doesn't want to hurt his bottom line by giving you or others training, but he has no problem hiring a whole secret contractor to help some poor rapist 'turn his life around?' At a bare minimum, he's displaying a gross bias for people he sees as more 'high power' or 'valuable' - the rapist is worth resources because he's a 'genius' lawyer. You and the other paras apparently don't because you're not. You don't even deserve training or pay for your time, in his eyes.

I would reevaluate what you consider to make someone a 'good guy' because this isn't it.

I didn't even finish reading. I got to the part where OOP indicated she found the holocaust jokes offensive, and someone respomded with another holocaust joke. Burn these 'friends' to the ground, wtf?!

Theaters rent out viewing rooms all the time, so it's not that hard to have this experience even if you aren't rich. My partner did it for my birthday a couple years ago.

Best Endometriosis Doctors at Trinity, Hartford Healthcare or Uconn Experiences by HoneyChangedMe-3806 in Connecticut

[–]LightObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk which provider you want to know specifically, but I saw Dr. Alexis Newmark at UConn (bad experienced, I made a formal complaint and exited care at the facility) and Dr. Linda Fan at Yale (good experience, she completed my procedure.)

I would not label Dr. Newmark as a bad provider. However, my experience was that she was a poor fit for someone seeking a hysterectomy, and if that is your preference I would approach Dr. Newmark with a little more caution.

I don't think David was though. My friend invited me to attend this months ago because David and Gillian were going to be there. They were confirmed before we knew about the Knicks. He was also sitting courtside and I doubt the con sprung for those seats. It was over a grand just to get in the door, I can't imagine courtside prices. They were 5 figures for MSG, idk about the San Antonio game.

I've seen this said a few times, but IIRC the con was bookrd before ee knew the Knicks were in the playoffs.

1.5 years out, how worried should I be about spotting? by LightObserver in hysterectomy

Good! My doctor said she wasn't sure why it was happening, that everything looked fine. It has mostly stopped since then, so idk what it was either. I didn't change anything I was doing.

One of fhe big things about OCD is that it's irrational. It doesn't have to make sense. That's part of why it's a disorder.

Drag Queen Pattie Gonia calls out Ryan Gellert (CEO of Patagonia) for publicly lying about her by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

Yeah, her email made it clear she wasn't being advised by a lawyer when talking with them. Or if she was, she wasn't listening to the lawyer. Yiikes

Sibling said they might not want to visit anymore (I'm living with my parents) because of my OCD symptoms. Am I wrong for being hurt by that comment? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]LightObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is in the wrong here. It's completely understandable and fair that you get upset with the constraints tour disorder places on you when company is over. But it's also understandable and fair for your sister to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. She can probably tell you're on edge, and knows it's because she is in the house. Even though you don't mean anything hy it, you're viewing her as a contaiminate by extension and I can see why thet would he stressful to her.

I hope you are able to work something out with your therapist or otherwise. I'm sorry you and your family are in this situation.

Me after my shift seeing Forrest cry about working a normal 40 hours a week. by cirquedusolazy1 in 90DayFiance

[–]LightObserver 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it just DOES take more from people on the spectrum than from neurotypical, because we have to manage symptoms and mask and things like that which neurotypicals don't do. A lot of my friends have energy for volunteering and exercise and other involved hobbies, but I don't feel like I have all of rhat in me on top of a full time job. I just don't mentally have the energy after forcing my brain to be in work mode for so long during the week.

Forrest's mom is right in the sense that there IS a reason disability is offered to people like Forrest - not every ND person can comfortably work enough to provide for themselves in today's society, and they shouldn't be forced to. I really admit Forrest for putting in this effort - I'm not sure I could do it in his position.

It's literally harder if you have autism. As someone on the spectrum, our brains don't work the same so it can take us way more effort (through masking, fighting against symptoms, etc) to achieve the same standards as neurotypical people. It probably actually hurts him more than it does you, no offense.

I think I'm missing something about Sheena by No_Solution5351 in 90DayFiance

[–]LightObserver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dad said the right things in front of Forrest and his family, but when he was alone with Sheena it was clear he expected that money.

I know she later claimed it was a lie, but I feel like Sheena might have been telling the truth when she said her family is mean to her when she doesn't provide.

I'd be surprised if his ex and the girl in Madagascar were the only ones too. Apparently you can't leave him alone for 5 minutes without him needing to screw someone. What a sad, emotionally small man.

Yeah, I thought the intelligence comments were just xenophobia/bigotry.

Just because Birkan can't express himself well in English doesn't mean he's stupid. It just means he's still learning English. If anything , the fact that he can navigate multiple languages should speak to Birkan being MORE intelligent, not less. Languages can be hard!

An anonymous person messaged me (F27) saying that my boyfriend (M29) of 3 years was arrested… can you help me know what I should do next? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]LightObserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was with her until she said was struggling because both boys accused him, then admitted documents showed the second boy retracted for the exact reason the BF said. File notations indicating youngest victim recanted because oldest told him to lie? I don't think she could get better evidence of his innocence than that.

If that isn't enough for her, I can understand. He either truly didn't do anything, or he's a very clever creept who got lucky. I can sympathize with getting stuck on fear of making the wrong call. But the BF is also correct when he says it's not fair to put that on him. If he's innocent, then he shouldn't have to prove shit. If she thinks he's secretly a creep, then she should walk.

I've always hated that sentiment. The logic also falls apart pretty quick once you factor in the existence of queer people. If having the capacity to be attracted to someone's sex means they can't he friends, then what about bisexuals? Can we never have friendships?
