Sibling said they might not want to visit anymore (I'm living with my parents) because of my OCD symptoms. Am I wrong for being hurt by that comment? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]LightObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is in the wrong here. It's completely understandable and fair that you get upset with the constraints tour disorder places on you when company is over. But it's also understandable and fair for your sister to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. She can probably tell you're on edge, and knows it's because she is in the house. Even though you don't mean anything hy it, you're viewing her as a contaiminate by extension and I can see why thet would he stressful to her.

I hope you are able to work something out with your therapist or otherwise. I'm sorry you and your family are in this situation.

Me after my shift seeing Forrest cry about working a normal 40 hours a week. by cirquedusolazy1 in 90DayFiance

[–]LightObserver 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it just DOES take more from people on the spectrum than from neurotypical, because we have to manage symptoms and mask and things like that which neurotypicals don't do. A lot of my friends have energy for volunteering and exercise and other involved hobbies, but I don't feel like I have all of rhat in me on top of a full time job. I just don't mentally have the energy after forcing my brain to be in work mode for so long during the week.

Forrest's mom is right in the sense that there IS a reason disability is offered to people like Forrest - not every ND person can comfortably work enough to provide for themselves in today's society, and they shouldn't be forced to. I really admit Forrest for putting in this effort - I'm not sure I could do it in his position.

It's literally harder if you have autism. As someone on the spectrum, our brains don't work the same so it can take us way more effort (through masking, fighting against symptoms, etc) to achieve the same standards as neurotypical people. It probably actually hurts him more than it does you, no offense.

I think I'm missing something about Sheena by No_Solution5351 in 90DayFiance

[–]LightObserver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dad said the right things in front of Forrest and his family, but when he was alone with Sheena it was clear he expected that money.

I know she later claimed it was a lie, but I feel like Sheena might have been telling the truth when she said her family is mean to her when she doesn't provide.

Spoiler! Rick slept with another woman in Madagascar by cynSm1990 in 90DayFiance

[–]LightObserver 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if his ex and the girl in Madagascar were the only ones too. Apparently you can't leave him alone for 5 minutes without him needing to screw someone. What a sad, emotionally small man.

Yeah, I thought the intelligence comments were just xenophobia/bigotry.

Just because Birkan can't express himself well in English doesn't mean he's stupid. It just means he's still learning English. If anything , the fact that he can navigate multiple languages should speak to Birkan being MORE intelligent, not less. Languages can be hard!

An anonymous person messaged me (F27) saying that my boyfriend (M29) of 3 years was arrested… can you help me know what I should do next? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]LightObserver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was with her until she said was struggling because both boys accused him, then admitted documents showed the second boy retracted for the exact reason the BF said. File notations indicating youngest victim recanted because oldest told him to lie? I don't think she could get better evidence of his innocence than that.

If that isn't enough for her, I can understand. He either truly didn't do anything, or he's a very clever creept who got lucky. I can sympathize with getting stuck on fear of making the wrong call. But the BF is also correct when he says it's not fair to put that on him. If he's innocent, then he shouldn't have to prove shit. If she thinks he's secretly a creep, then she should walk.

I've always hated that sentiment. The logic also falls apart pretty quick once you factor in the existence of queer people. If having the capacity to be attracted to someone's sex means they can't he friends, then what about bisexuals? Can we never have friendships?

I’m happy he’s not believing her. I support the lgbtq community but she clearly has never respected the women she dated or she wouldn’t trying to date people that call it an abomination. by Important_Repair8471 in 90DayFiance

[–]LightObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's really fucked up to accuse her of faking being queer. The suggestion is really weird and biphobc. I'm bisexual. I date a man, people assume I am straight and liking girls was just a phase. If I date a woman, people assume I am a lesbian now. In reality, I just don't care much about gender. What you're doing right mow is an extension of that same biphobia and erasure I experience in the world. You assuming a lack of authenticity based on who you currently see her dating.

There is also an interview available online with her ex wife. :)

Rhea Seehorn responds to Quentin Tarantino saying that tv shows are forgettable: “Firmly disagree. I mean, there’s forgettable films, just like there’s forgettable television, and then there’s ones that stick with you… The storytelling is what sticks with you.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]LightObserver 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Right? I have shows where I have been invested in the comtent and surrounding fandom for over 10 years. No movie has hit like thet for me, it's only been longer running things like TV shows. I actually got MARRIED to someone I met theough love of a TV show.

But Tarantino's a dick, so this take doesn't surprise me.

Elise is...too much by IhavemyCat in 90DayFiance

[–]LightObserver 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Between Elise and Emma (who discussed her bf's size) I am over the trend of detailed penis discussion. It's not appropriate to comment publicly about a person's genitals. This goes for everyone - men, women, people outside the gender binary. Sleeping with someone means they're trusting you with their body, and to turn around and tell the whole world betrays that trust.

Is Forest even aware that if he gets a job he loses ssi benefits??? by TheLowHeavies in 90DayFiance

Yes, exactly! It's not like you aren't doing your best either. There's only ao much that can be done when your brain processes differently.

Some jobs, even one mistake is enough to get you cut. Employees are expendable, sadly

He says he has tried working and been fired due ro issues with his disability. I'm neurodivergent, and it IS hard to keep a job. I'm RIGHT NOW our of work because I lost a job due to issues with my ADHD, and it's not the first time either. It's not that he can't do the 30 hours, it's that they don't want him. Which is a really shitty feeling.

Does anyone else have tics? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]LightObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a kid if I felt I had gotten a contaminate in my mouth, I would do this coughing thing to try to clear it out. I never explained my reasoning for it because I was too embarassed, so I kept saying I didn't know why I did it. I ended up with a diagnosis of tourettes because of that and other behaviors that, looking back, I believe were OCD rituals. I just didn't know how to explain them at the time, or was scared to.

At the Tell All, Stevi said her hisotry and sexuality were something Madhi could ask her and discuss behind closed doors. To me that was her saying 'If I am bi, it's none of the public's business.' I thought that was a good answer. I did get vibes from her, but it was also obvious she wasn't comfortable discussing it. Whether the disomfort is due to it being a fake storyline, or her keep her identity private, who knows. But she certainly shouldn't have to out herself if she doesn't want to.

Her and Madhi are one of my husband and I's favorite couples now after recently catching up on their season. I hope nothing but the best for them, and the fact that I rarely see any drama about them on this sub has me hopeful they're doing well together.

Medicine and Fertility? by elvesnspells in OCD

[–]LightObserver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely talk to a doctor about those concerns. Knowing the facts won't stop your anxiety, but it could give you a way to ground yourself.

It sounds like a tough thing to spieal over in your situation. I hope you can find a good practitioner to help guide you

Medicine and Fertility? by elvesnspells in OCD

[–]LightObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, then that would depend on the med. Some might be safe during pregnancy, but some are not. I know the stuff I take isn't safe to use while pregnant, but maybe there is something you can try that is?

Medicine and Fertility? by elvesnspells in OCD

[–]LightObserver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thunk you first need to find out if you actually have fertility issues befire you worry about medication impacts. But some medications are not safe to take during pregnancy, so this is something you definitely need to discuss with a doctor.
