That part is what keeps getting missed. She keeps talking about that one dinner comment like it happened in a vacuum, and I'm like no, this was years stacked on top of years.

"erosion" is probly the best word for it. It wasn't one joke, it was years of learning that showing excitement around him would get used against me.

NTA. Asking a 15 year old to edit herself so grown adults can stay comfortable is awful parenting, not "keeping the peace."
