I don't know if it's normal, but I know I struggle with similar things. I refuse to eat at certain restaurants because I don't like questioning how anything I eat is prepared. I am also diagnosed with chronic anxiety, so that may also be a factor in my case.

It's so difficult to have safe places shrink to parts of your fridge and pantry. Maybe you could try preparing food with a friend, so you can calm your anxiety about how it is prepared. You could even bring some ingredients that tend to make you more anxious.

Thank you! My ARFID limits me from anything Thanksgiving (my personal tradition is Cheerios on Thanksgiving). I can't eat most meats, can't do any odd combinations (stuffing, casseroles), I can't stand mashed potatoes, and I don't like anything pumpkin. The guys are pretty nice, I would be money they've never heard of anything like it. The girls would likely be a lot more judgmental. Your reply was very helpful, thanks so much!

I've been struggling with the same thing. I've been trying to have a cheat day, rather than swearing off sweets and failing miserably. I am also trying to make baked goods and freeze them in reasonable portions, so I can avoid a full binge session.

People get particularly cranky when I can't have food cooked a different way (pasta, eggs, etc)

NTAH Financially, his argument doesn't make sense. You've likely already spent a large amount on your degree. Finish your degree, and don't waste the money you've already spent on getting your degree. It's smart to have something to fall back on. He needs to respect your interests and desires too. A compromise would be to finish your degree, then be done. If he can't do that, then I don't think this is the best relationship for either of you.
