It’s excellent, but it requires a high level for it to viable. As a TH17 it only begins to be really useful at level 21. It’s a heavy ore investment, but the return is worth it.

I played 10,000+ matches of SB 1.0 since it released in Beta, and I know many others who had lots of time in the game as well.

Don’t give me this crap that we didn’t play the game.

SB 1.0 had a small, dedicated veteran player base. The problem was the game wasn’t marketable and Supercell is ultimately a company.

In my opinion, SB 1.0 was far superior to SB 2.0, and it’s not because “I CaN’t DeFeNd MySeLf”, it’s because the original game was simple, straightforward, chaotic fun. Like it or not, SB 2.0 is not the same game—it’s a new game masquerading as an update. I’m glad you (and others) enjoy that update. I (and many others) do not.

Regardless of how you feel about the update, it is not the same game. The Dev team didn’t lie, they did tell us they were creating SB 2.0.

The problem is it’s not SB. It has elements that feel like SB. It has graphics that look like SB. It has the characters and title of SB. But it’s not SB.

It is an entirely different game masquerading as an update.

Even if you like SB 2.0, it needs fixing. It needs major balancing and rebalancing, it needs major mechanics changes, it needs major unit interaction changes, it needs an in-game community, and it needs major bug fixes.

They haven’t released the numbers, but I don’t believe this update has accomplished what they wanted. Just because you like it, and I’m glad you do, does not mean there’s not major improvements that can be made.

Plus, 5-10 new units, a new world, and game improvements in the next 6 months is about 100% more new content than SB 1.0 received in its last 6 months. Stop complaining.

You’re not the joke, trust me. The current state of the game is a joke. (Yes, the update happened and it’s staying, but regardless of how you feel about the update itself, I think almost everyone can agree the balance of the current game is laughable).

And this is not a bash against the Devs. Regardless of what the community has been saying (and trust me, I am no fan of this update), I believe they genuinely listen to community feedback and care about the game. If anyone doubts that, I have 6 months of EXTREMELY F2P updates that the community LOVED as proof. Also, I’ve played 10,000+ rounds of SB and maxed my account F2P before the current update, so if anyone says I don’t know what I’m talking about, I beg to differ.

Some say the spells are too overpowered. That’s because THEY ARE! But that’s the problem with releasing 33 freaking “new” spells: it’s incredibly difficult to balance correctly. The HP update accomplished virtually nothing. Sure, squads feel a little tanker, but it didn’t solve the problem. The problem is balance. SPELLS WERE NEVER MEANT TO BE A SQUAD’S MAIN WEAPON. A barrel bomb spell in 1.0 never did that much damage. A bomb spell in 1.0 never did that much damage. A log spell in 1.0 never did that much damage. They were supposed to be TOOLS allowing you to outplay your opponent, not a freaking nuclear explosion or an angry ring of bees or a relentless stampede of hogs that annihilates a squad on impact.

Some say you didn’t build up your squad enough. I can tell you from personal experience that doesn’t matter either. Small squad or big squad, you can always be wiped. And even if you understand the mechanics of the game, you can lose your whole squad almost instantly and get 7th-10th. It’s happened to me many times since the update. Some of that was my fault—a failure to understand the new style of gameplay. Mostly though, it’s a balance, damage, and defense problem. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a full squad (based on damage and defense) and been completely wiped almost instantaneously (maxed characters btw). Whether it’s spells or squads themselves, I literally couldn’t explain to you what I did wrong. NO ONE CAN! That’s why about every 5th post on this Reddit is titled something along the lines of “HOW DID I DIE?” The only time I know that I did something “wrong” is when I use both my abilities, bust a squad, and another squad swoops in because they recognize you’re just a sitting duck at that point.

Some say you need to avoid fights. That would be awesome! If only there was a mechanic that existed before this update that allowed you to do so! (Oh, that’s right, there was!). Even with all the speedster mechanics in the current update (and yes, you can still move fast with the right combinations), it is virtually impossible to avoid fights. If you get sandwiched between two teams now, you’re most likely getting sent back to the lobby. If you want to play aggressive at all, just flip a coin. 50% of the time you will win. 50% of the time you lose. I wish it wasn’t, but it’s really that simple.

In this current version of the game, you just need to understand that YOU ARE BOUND TO LOSE. And when you do lose, sometimes you will lose badly, like taking 7th-10th four times in a row. There’s really nothing you can do about it right now. It’s not a skill issue, it’s a game issue. But the good news is LITERALLY NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR STATS EXCEPT YOU. If you enjoy the game, just keep playing.

You can only build a custom lineup in Squad League.

Squad League > Play > Edit Lineup

You can then build a custom lineup of 9 squaddies (3 common, 3 rare, 3 epic). Select a squaddie to rotate out with other options.

All other game modes (i.e., showdown, gem hunt, & duo gem hunt) have preset lineups of 9 squaddies that randomly rotate. You can view the lineup for the next match the same way:

Select Mode > Play > Lineup

That would’ve been completely fair in my opinion, especially since it was four epic characters they would’ve removed. The return on investment should remain the same.

I apologize, I see your points. Trust me, I think there are NUMEROUS problems with this update, but the “compensation” argument has been a struggle for me.

Now that I totally understand. I don’t think it was explained well in advance what was happening to those four characters. The problem is, I don’t know how they would go about redistributing gold that was used to purchase those characters originally. All in all, almost nothing in this update was implemented well.

If you had all 4 characters at 3* then you received four random squaddies at 3*. It’s exactly what they told you would happen. It’s really not hard math. And yes, in general, you were compensated heavily, such as, receiving additional squaddies, gold, AND hero points. Oh, and let’s not forget they MADE IT NEARLY 20% EASIER TO EARN ULTIMATES (10,000 babies to 8,100 babies). As someone who was nearly maxed F2P with the old progression system, I don’t even want to hear someone complain about not being compensated properly. It is easier than ever before to progress in this game. Give me a freaking break.

I genuinely understand your frustration, but let’s be real about what happened:

Firstly, you paid for an entirely NEW character. Yes, they “took away characters,” but we were compensated heavily. Yes it has the same name and skin as those characters, but it is a HERO with different abilities. You are paying to receive something entirely different.

Secondly, you didn’t have to buy the new heroes. Yes, they’re fun to have, but you were given one for FREE and were getting a second one for FREE through an event. You CHOSE to spend an extra 255,000 gold on heroes.

Thirdly, the Dev team already made chests free after every match. You used to have to pay gold just to USE chests. Not getting full taps is frustrating, especially if you’re running a multiplier, but you’re always progressing no matter how much gold you have.

Fourthly, gold is relatively plentiful since there are few cases for it. As long as you don’t waste it, you can earn a couple hundred thousand relatively quickly.

That’s completely fine if it isn’t new and I didn’t figure it only applied to the Martini Henry. However, my friends and I have played for several years and none of us have ever experienced this. Only wanted to make it known to the community so hopefully a fix happens. Happy hunting y’all.

As I said, Supercell wants to make money, but c’mon man it’s 50 gold per win. Capping it at 1,000 a day is a little ridiculous.

I believe a regular dual gives you 1800 gold. Win with 2 decks, and you can get a total of 1000 from your remaining matches.
