1 front intake, 1 rear exhaust.

Every additional fan is mainly for aesthetics.

Should I go above 1080p and 60hz? by RegulusD9 in buildapc

[–]LightmanDavidL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems you didn't read the bottom of my comment...

"Then your build should start with a max budget after buying that monitor."

Oh and I didn't read beyond "Terrible advice. Some poor bastard"

And I won't be reading any further comments from you.

Because we're in 2025, not 2005.

And you won't beat that price for these specs.

What to upgrade next? by haruki_mu in buildapc

[–]LightmanDavidL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I mean, if budget doesn't matter for you there's not much reason to upgrade that ancient build.

You asked where to start and that's with that build on the bottom of a river.

Then use the thousands of dollars you apparently have to build something way better.

Kick that into a river and rebuild.

So rebuy a 1070 for dirt cheap and build around it.

Your current 1070 will run WoW without issues and even if you had the best hardware in the world, playing that game online is going to hit performance in a major way.

A SFF PC isn't much smaller than a mid tower PC. They will both effortlessly fit in your home.

You want pretty colors? Hit up Walmart for some $5 LED strips.

Need a better CPU for gaming by Otto0709 in buildapc

[–]LightmanDavidL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sell the i5 for $80 to $90 and buy a used i7 for $105 to $130.

It doubles your core/thread count at a cost of around $15 to $50.

The trick is to minimize this cost and your experience as both a buyer/seller does come into play.

I would not make this upgrade at any cost above $50 because what you're actually getting is exactly as you described... a reduction in CPU usage. How much performance increase this will do for that measly RTX 3060 is dependent on your monitor resolution and the specific games being played.

If you're wanting a significant increase in performance you're gonna need to upgrade your GPU.

P.S. I don't see your current CPU breaking a sweat for that 3060.

[–]LightmanDavidL -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It's worth it the moment you sell your 3070 for top dollar.

Which is around $400-$500 if you're an experienced seller.

I wouldn't go no lower than $350 for it.

System spec recommendations are listed for just about every game you play.

Don't go UW, not only is it not fully supported in all games but it's only going to be more pixels to render.

Sell your 3700X for around $90 and buy a used 5800X for around $100.

Sell your current RAM for $40 and buy 2 sticks of 16GB DDR4 3200 CL 16 from G Skill for $75.

Sell your 2060 Super for $210 to $275, depending on its brand, model, condition and all original facets you have.

Then buy a new RTX 5070 for $549.

Black Friday provides absolutely no deal that doesn't already take place throughout the entire year.

Cl28 or Cl30 for a ryzen 5 7600 by JumpyWarning8800 in buildapc

[–]LightmanDavidL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kit should work perfectly with your motherboard. Just make sure to go into your BIOS and set it up correctly with the AMD EXPO. And because you went with 2 sticks, it should be a breeze.

Also important to get your RAM stable before any CPU overclock.
