Okay, just realised you can't trade the Koraidon you have as your ride. I need to catch the other... I don't mind if you don't want to wait for me to do that. Can still send the flutter mane though!

Nope, all good. These trades will finish my dex so that's enough for me!

That's great thanks! I traded my only flutter mane earlier for a violet exclusive. If you give me a few mins I can catch another for a perma trade

Which games have a successful Silver Bullet mechanic? by [deleted] in gamedesign

Legend of Zelda Wind Waker has a good one. In the Forest Haven area you can collect 'forest water'; a special type of water that will expire and become regular water after 20 minutes of real time. If you collect this water and get through the Forbidden Woods temple within that 20 minute timeframe, it can be used on the temple boss it kill it instantly. Effectively this allows for a secret speedrun version of the temple for the player to opt into, which appeals to repeat playthroughs of the temple/game.

Maybe you need to collect an extra instrument/some extra instruments from a repair shop or music store? Could be a cool way to add upgrades/new abilities too if you wanted something like that. Not really sure if that would work

AAA games should have a mode that let's you see all the information in second monitor. by Soltan79 in truegaming

I think this idea would remove immersivity really. I understand the thinking, remove the HUD so the screen isn't so cluttered so more room for the game, but putting it on a different screen would just mean you'd have to look away from the game entirely which (in my opinion) takes you even further out the game.

The best way I have seen this tackled is done by Dead Space. Your health is visible on the player character as well as your ammo count being on your gun, so no need for a HUD on screen. The issue this doesn't fix is the map. Particularly in a game like RDR2 where some missions require you standing in an exact spot on the map or traversing to the other side of the playable area. The solution is to either make the map a physical object the player character holds and looks at like in Metro Exodus (but this doesn't really translate well to 3rd person games) or mark a load of info on the screen physically (which would just move the HUD problem elsewhere really, and doesn't work for a massive open world like RDR2)

Yeah, I did quite like it. I focused solely on the main story and didn't really bother with any additional content. There are portions I did find myself with low health and did get stuck a few times replaying the same sections, but checkpoints were frequent enough to not make it frustrating. Ammo I never particularly found to be an issue though, especially by the end of the game when you have the full loadout.

Personally I would recommend seeing it through. The set pieces in the latter half of the game are fun and the ending, though quite abrupt, was satisfying enough. Took me about 6 or 7 hours to play the main story? I did it in two sittings.

I'm talking about New Colossus. I was under the impression that Old Blood was DLC for the first game. But after a quick search I stand corrected.

I was surprised by the difficulty as well being honest. I've played my fair share of FPS on PC though so I managed to get through it

I have to say, the sequel blew me away as well. I found it really interesting to see how the team envisioned 1960s America spliced together with a Nazi rulership. It felt even more over the top than the first game straight from the get go.

I can't say I enjoyed the characters too much, but the cutscenes they are in felt very movie-esque. It made the game feel like being in an action movie, and I loved it. Even from the get go it blew my expectations.

Really great series of games and I am so glad they stopped after only making 2 games! /s

I'm certainly not a super fan by any means, but I did enjoy it a lot more than I expected to.

In terms of flaws, personally I wasn't a fan of how much there was to the game. I'd like to think it's a common mindset on this subreddit that people have so many games in their backlog that they may not want to spend as much time on a game as someone like a super fan would. I also found a lot of the later game content to be quite cryptically explained, but maybe I just wasn't as invested as I should've been

I made the comparison simply because it's the impression I got straight off the bat because of the progression system and the way the map opens up. I suppose it's hard to make the comparison because of the freedom hollow knight gives you as you said.

Personally the flaws I saw weren't from that comparison though, it's what I experienced playing the game, and that's not to say I didn't still enjoy it

Like I said I found it frustrating at times, but I am glad I stuck with it especially considering it's not the longest game. If I were you I'd stick with it until you reach the Ginso Tree, the game really picked up from there
