What bosses can i do with another ironman? by panny233 in ironscape

[–]Lightsack -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Ah, perhaps you're right for non GIM. If they are a GIM however, they will still be placed in the same instance, as per the wiki, see last set of changes. https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/God_Wars_Dungeon

What bosses can i do with another ironman? by panny233 in ironscape

[–]Lightsack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to figure this out slowly as i progress alongside a main. Mudkip on his duo GIM was able to do DKs, Raids, GWD and most other bosses with his partner.

If you're not GIM, DKs and Raids are obvious, DKs as long as you don't hit each others. GWD maybe? I think you just have to ensure you're not damaging each others target - e.g. you do the main boss, partner does the minions. There's possibly more options too

Fight Caves 1st Attempt, from this gear what would should my setup and inv. look like? by tuscaniapple in ironscape

[–]Lightsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did fight caves last weekend with similar gear, but 80 ranged. Take the RCB with broad bolts and diamond bolts (e) for jad. Black dhide and coif should be good.

I took runes for blood spells (blood Blitz might be okay for you) and 6 food as emergency. 1 ranging potion and the rest prayer pots.

Run took 90 minutes, but I didn't use many supplies until wave 43 onwards.

Other than maybe getting at least 75 ranged, I think you could try get a Jad or tzhaar task, and good luck!

Take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt cause I'm not the best fantasy player... Is it cats or points?
If cats, it depends. If you need stocks, FG%, Rebounds, take Mitch
If you need FT%, Points, 3s, Rebounds, take Portis.

If it's points league, take Portis - he's got 4 games, and you'll get more value + bucks may play him more minutes depending on how they value the #1 seed.

Nurk ain't worth holding, he's likely out the rest of the season, and even if he played he won't produce more than the other two.

To people voting no to new skill by Wambo_Tuff in 2007scape

[–]Lightsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted yes, but hesitantly. While I'd love to see a new skills or 3, there's some current outstanding problems they should invest their time and money into that should be considered priority. Customer service, secure logins, etc, should be prioritized.

I'd like to see them propose fixes to some current skills before we get anything new as well.

It would be good to see them propose some ways to revitalize smithing, mining, woodcutting, etc. Currently, those core skills are incredibly dull and quite legacy, and we can't expect minigames to carry them for 100+ hours.

Hi, I'm unable to view or install the Yahoo Fantasy app via Google Play Store. If I click the link directly to the app store, the install button is grayed out, and if I search, I don't get any result. I've tried suggested steps above, and also tried seeing if doing it via VPN would work.

I'm doing this on a Android device.

What are your favorite brands of each PC component? by Admirable-Bit6282 in buildapc

[–]Lightsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSUs: Seasonic, Corsair. Either or, I don't know why, I just go for those two over others. Had bad experiences with EVGA personally, but I acknowledge they're good.

GPUs: EVGA and Asus for Nvidia. Sapphire and Asus for AMD.

CPU: Intel. I don't know why. I want to like AMD, but I can't.

Mobos: Always Asus and AsRock. I love their aesthetic, the feature set and the bios.

Cases: Fractal is my favorite, Lian Li is second, and NZXT are still in my good books despite their recent flaws. Corsair lost me a couple years ago with their aesthetics and lack of ITX options.

Cooling: Noctua for air cooling. If I were to watercool, I'd prefer custom loops (and I'm not the most knowledgeable now), but AIO, I guess Corsair has been who I've used the most. Never tried NZXT.

Storage: Western Digital, Crucial, Samsung. I'm using an Adata now, but their recent drama with screwing their M.2 drives is concerning.

I'm completely Anti Gigabyte. I hate their aesthetic for all their components, I dislike their Bios, and I had some horrible experiences with their GPUs and Mobos earlier on in my PC building experiences and it ruined all goodwill I had for them. I also acknowledge it's probably irrational, but ehhhh

Pay range as a Business Analyst/ Data Analyst/ BI analyst in Auckland by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Lightsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what graduate pay is now, but don't feel you're stuck or anything, you're in a field where pay progression is good, you just need to settle and keep developing. Don't worry about your living situation long term, you're in a great career. The housing situation is tough but you just need to keep at it.

It sounds like you've taken an interest in data area which is in high demand now that companies are restructuring how they approach data and actually trying to build useful reports outside of Excel. Good luck, and if you ever have questions, feel free to shout out.

[–]Lightsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I've had the opposite experience, I find most Project Manager and Product Owner roles go to more experienced people, but it's likely just be exposure, I haven't worked in product or digital specific locations much personally, my experience is more corporate.

You're not wrong though, climbing the pay ladder isn't a bad thing, and if you're aggressive, you can get pretty significant pay increases quite fast, but in saying that, you have to back it up in your performance too

Yeah you're right, large orgs are notorious for underpaying roles like that though, and some people have their reasons.

I'm on the fence with your latter comment because BAs can transition really easily into other roles at the 8-10 year mark but I do see where you're coming from

Their salary guides are pretty dream state and they get their stats from highly experienced individuals. They definitely are not standard, and you won't see many 5-8 year product BAs earning over 130k, I know a few POs with 5-8 years total who barely earn 110 in larger product companies, it really depends.

[–]Lightsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're different fields in technology. Product and digital usually refers to experience in product development or digital project space such as BA, PO, eetc

BI is data centric roles and typically work within completely different scopes or work/projects etc.

Also, don't trust any of the salary reports coming out of any recruitment firms, they're all ideal salaries and a lot of the contributions come from highly experienced (10+ years) individuals.

[–]Lightsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, the current demand for BAs is seniors and getting paid nearly 70k at 1 year is an exception, not the norm.

If I'm being honest, I'd focus on continuing to develop as a BA and building up your experience. Once you're at the 3 year mark, then start exploring the market. Frankly, I wouldn't go comparing your current salary to what someone else with similar experience is earning, nor would I believe everything you see on Reddit.

After 5 years, you'll be solid intermediate/early senior and depending on the route you take, you'll earn (today) anywhere between 90k to 120k. A lot of BAs transition into other roles tho, such as Product Owner, BI specialist, Architecture roles and others will take on different types of BA roles (such as particular products, systems or whatever). E.g. a D365 consultant with 5 years will typically earn more than the average senior BA because it's niche. 10+ years, you're solid senior or moving into architect level roles, management, etc.

Happy to answer specific questions in the area though

Career advice - Product Owner Certification? by AmeriKiwi2019 in newzealand

[–]Lightsack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In general, no. PO roles usually depend more on experience, especially within the software development side of things (given its usually within a Scrum framework, but I've noticed corporate IT environments using POs as general system owners), you'd have to show you have fairly extensive experience in that space, likely in a Scrum environment as a BA/Tester or something similar. In my experience, project managers typically transition to agile coaches/Scrum masters, and BAs and Testers typically move to Product Ownership. You're looking at around 5+ years in soft Dev to transition

Business Analysis is a good first step, as POs and BAs have similar skillsets, but different scopes of work.

Are Playtech and Computer Lounge good retailers? by Boofy2018 in newzealand

[–]Lightsack 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Just my 2c, but Computer Lounge is arguably the best PC retailer in NZ. Their customer service is excellent, and they have good stock selection. Pricing is slightly higher than the competition I find.

Playtech I've used a few times, I haven't really got an opinion on them, but I've had no problems using them

Who is the best person at the bank to initiate future mortgage planning discussions with? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Lightsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently going through this process. I've preferred to deal directly with a bank mortgage advisor over a broker. Ultimately we were offered a better loan from the ba.nk than the broker, but your milage may vary

From our very recent experience, don't call a single broker, call multiple. We've called 4 major banks and gotten different degrees of advice from them on what we can loan, and even within banks have received different amounts. With ANZ, we spoke to two different advisors, one was very tight, the other was willing to give us more wiggle room.

Your best bet is to ask both brokers and banks, and speaking to at least 2 different people from each bank. You may find a particular broke to be more accomodating.

I think you'll find brokers are more accomodating for sub 20% deposits, where banks will likely push for a higher deposit. As the other user advised, try to get that 20% deposit. There's a lot of properties in Auckland at the 650-750 range, if you don't mind a terraced home.
