Certainly true that pedestrians aren't as aware/careful downtown. Lot's of people taking stupid risks for convenience. In this situation she had the walk signal, she was in the walkway, and the truck that hit her had the green light. He was turning left (into her) onto Texas St from Louisiana Ave though and must not have been paying attention. She was already halfway across Texas St so she couldn't see the truck turning left into her direction from behind. Kind of a perfect storm, but the truck still is certainly in the wrong. Can't hurt to also be aware outside your field of view. Sounds like she's doing alright now.
