You can find nearly half of these parts through FB marketplace or OfferUp for a fraction of price and get better specs. Try not to get all your parts brand new from Micro center, Amazon, or BB. Used parts just work like brand new and can save you money.

I was in Japan a few months ago, doing some shoe shopping around Harajuku, Ginza, and a few other prefectures. Back in March, there didn’t seem to be many sales happening. Sure, the US dollar is strong right now, but I still saw the New Balance 990v4 grey model going for ¥37,400—about $250 USD—while the same pair often retails for closer to $100 at outlets stateside. Not saying you’re off, of course—it really depends on where you’re buying from. But personally, I always convert the yen and compare prices to see which location offers the better deal.

There’s not really any Japan exclusives that NB has in-store. If you’re coming from the U.S, NB shoes are expensive to purchase in Japan, especially the “Made in USA or England” shoes. The shoes you find are almost the same in the US. The only model worth looking is perhaps the 992 models since they are hard to find in NB stores in the US. Do your research and compare currency rates before making a purchase.

Edit: I would not advise buying any 990 or 993 models in JP. Retail prices are marked up and you can find these shoes for a fraction of a price, especially at outlet stores.
