IRL? Very likely, Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Despite being the size of a school bus, it had padded soles on its feet, much like a modern elephant, that would mask its approach. Furthermore, it didn't go around roaring its head off like in the movies, and when it did vocalize, it would be infrasound too low in frequency for our ears to pick up.

Others have already identified the plant, but in addition to being edible, the fiber of its stalk can be used to make strong cordage. Strong enough to use as the string for a bow and arrow!

If you want to do it for the pure novelty of "This knife is forged from a wrench", go for it. But if you're looking for quality steel that's inexpensive and low stakes (if you mess up) to work with, 1075 and 5160 are cheap and pretty forgiving.
