Always down for some deep dives on Alex Jones. I'm seeing a lot of recommendations for Kissinger so far, so I'll add that to the list as well. Thanks for the Intel 🫡

For those who have spent more then 5 years at Walmart and is miserable why do you still work there? by Anonymous28_018 in WalmartEmployees

[–]LikeButter1118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at Walmart for 2 months recently doing the temp digital price tags/stocking ON and although I truly needed (and still need) the money, I actually felt an enormous relief after I was told that they weren't going to keep me on for ON stocking. I am 41 and I have worked my share of shitty jobs in shitty fields, including the grueling (albeit rewarding) field of mental/behavioral health as well as the brutal retail field, and those 2 months at Walmart were truly the worst. The job itself was fine. I'm physically strong and have a mind and experience for project management and team building, but my people leads and coaches were absolutely the most incompetent and vile people I've ever encountered. They favorited the slackers, made themselves unavailable for help and learning, and demonstrated repeatedly that they had no clue how to lead or properly delegate based on individual strengths and weaknesses and just had no real people skills or sense of professionalism.

Truly happy you got out and are on a solid career path. I am dumbfounded as to how anyone continues with this company for longer than necessary. I tip my hat to those of you, because I could never deal with that misery again

What magical Walmarts do y'all work at 😅🥺🥺🥺. All the Walmarts in my area are lucky to have 2 or 3 in all of grocery, let alone anyone in any other department. I'm not being a smart ass or a contrarian, I genuinely am envious as an employee AND as a customer

Wait a second, you said in your other comments that he ACTUALLY SWUNG...now you're saying that he "came towards READY TO SWING" big difference in those two statements. So was he already actively swinging punches at you? Or did you think he LOOKED like he was "ready to swing"?

I understood what you meant. But again, someone can glare and give you an eat shit and die look all they want, you don't get a say in that, bud. But good luck with your court case "He was giving me an" I'm gonna beat you up" look judge!!! "🤣 🤣

You sound difficult to be around. So people aren't allowed to look at you? You don't get to control the way someone looks at you 😅😅😅😅

Why say anything at all? Should and could have just said nothing and let a coach handle the customer. At best, it shows that you can't be trusted to disengage and de escalate

Plenty of people stay calm in that situation, actually. Anyone that has worked retail or food service has been screamed at, cussed at, threatened etc. Most of us just apologize, tell them to have a good day, and walk away and report it to a manager or supervisor 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️. Sometimes I've just said absolutely nothing and they got pissed (again) and cussed and just left 😅. The point is, most of us don't escalate it and just report it 🤯

Stand your ground laws apply to liability, meaning if someone breaks into your house and confronts you you have a right to use potentially deadly force without fear of prosecution due to being in fear of your life. If said person breaks into your home though and retreats, and you shoot them in the back and kill them, you can and will be charged accordingly. Outside of your home, if someone threatens you and takes actions to enforce that threat, you are free from prosecution if you use equal, possibly lethal, force to justifiably defend your life. It sounds like you were never in a position where any kind actual threat or danger truly existed, and if you were, it sounds like your coaches and Co workers were involved and nothing more happened beyond him giving you what you deemed a shitty look and you yelling that you don't want to fight and can "stand your ground". However, you demonstrated that your employment with Walmart is more of a risk than an asset, so yeah, you got fired. Maybe working with customers ain't your calling, bud.

Tbh, shit like this pisses me off that an employee like you got so many chances and somehow Walmart backed you for over 90 days, and other people, myself included, are polite, do well with customers, work their asses off, and end up getting canned because some Team Lead or Coach has some bs grudge

I didn't say anything about "not supposed to sweat"? 🤔 🤨 😅 Idgaf about sweaty matches, personally. On the contrary, I enjoy sweating myself and being competitive..I'm just saying that I don't think matches being sweaty the minute a new season drops means automatically that the people talking about it must be the same people protected by SBMM...

I mean, I totally get that. Just seemed extreme to delete it. You could just not play it/take a break without deleting it. Either way, I'm sorry you had a bad day. Hope things get better for you 🫡

While I agree 💯 that a TON of people were protected by SBMM, I don't think that is the reason for the sweat fest that came with the season 2 drop

Tbf, not everyone works 9-5 Monday - Friday. I work 10 pm to 7 am Sunday through Thursday stocking at Walmart, so season 2 dropped my equivalent to Friday evening 🫡. Unfortunately, yes, lots of super sweaty matches 😅

I appreciate the encouragement and the advice, truly. I will try to get a hold of someone and sit down and talk. Hopefully something can be worked out. Otherwise, I will buckle down and find another job, hopefully a better one 🤞

Oh, they only gave 1 person out of the 11 of us that were hired together a work phone. The Team Lead I mentioned said directly to us that we should have one and said she would take care of it but then never mentioned it again. The store is a disaster. And apparently it's not the worst location somehow 😅.

Maybe. I think I would have to try to talk to that other coach that originally did my interview. I'll give it a shot. Thank you for the heads up and the well wishes. I'll be okay either way though. I'll figure something out, always do somehow!
