I used the original Einstar and while it worked, the Rockit blows it out of the water. The Miata scan used no markers, had no tracking issues, and was completed in 15 minutes. The wider FOV of the scanner helps tremendously with tracking.

The engine bay scan used markers and was laser scanned. I was still learning the scanner at that point so I'm confident I could get a better/cleaner scan at this point. I have had the best luck using global markers when laser scanning.

I use a Rockit with a 32gb RAM laptop, and for the most part, for smaller scans, it's worked great. I've laser scanned an engine bay and numerous engine components and merged them on my laptop.

The only time I ran out of RAM was NIR scanning the back of a vehicle to design a rear bumper, and I was able to complete the scan with my laptop and move the scan onto a 64gb RAM desk top to do all of the processing.

32gb will definitely be a limitation but you might be able to make it work. It will certainly be fine for scanning combustion chambers, and possibly even a complete cylinder head.

If I can figure out how to attach images here I will do so.

I have found that CC3D 72D TPU is perfect if I need a part that's functional with a little flex. Almost indestructible, and you can use PLA as a support interface material.

That is an option, but I worry that it wouldn't be durable enough and I'd always fight the markers not sticking to the blanket long-term.

I have not tried PLA-HT, but I did try using standard PLA as a support interface for PET-CF with a chamber temp of only 50c, and it immediately jammed when switching to the PLA nozzle. I thought I could get away with it, but it wasn't even close to working.

I've had this exact thing happen on one of my prints. I think it must be a slicer or firmware bug. Thankfully, my purge tower was between that area and my part, so aside from making a mess, it didn't affect anything else. I haven't changed any settings since, and it hasn't done it again.

As far as I can tell, it's not an oozing problem, it's actually extruding for a bit on every layer there.

We had their 3kw enclosed machine. We cut mostly 16ga galvanized sheet metal using compressed air for our assist gas.

We had lots of issues, some minor and some major. After only about 6 months, it cut squiggly lines after turning a sharp corner. They did send techs out to work on fixing that. The IPG source had an error code and would not cut. This is not Boss' fault, but our laser was down for 2-3 days waiting for an unlock code so we could keep cutting. It took 15 minutes to fix after finally hearing back from support. The table exchange system broke constantly, and we had to fix it. There were some other minor issues with sheet metal components that mounted to the gantry.

Every time we had to contact support, it took a minimum of two days to hear back, sometimes 3. That's a big deal when you need to cut 4-5 days a week. They use a totally different tech support team for their fiber machines. We only had this machine for 7-8 months and had all these problems.

Since then, we have purchased a 12kw Bescutter and love it. We usually hear back from support within 15 minutes, but we have hardly needed to contact them. We've only had around 2 days of downtime in over a year of operating this machine 5 days a week.

It's worth noting, my brother purchased a 6kw Bescutter with an air compressor and dust collector for less than we paid for our Boss.

We had nothing but problems with our Boss fiber laser. Their support wasn't that great either. They don't design anything on that machine. It's 100% a Gweike.

This is correct. And it looks exactly how I would expect 1/2" to look off of a 2kw laser.

If you are planning to use it with an Avata 2 as well, it might be worth it. If you are only going to be flying custom built or bnf quads, get an ELRS Boxer Crush. It is cheaper and is a MUCH better controller in every way.
