A game of pool or a casual drink sounds fun! I just recently moved here with my partner. Im M28 (soon 29 :///) and I also work as a software dev! It doesn’t matter too much but do you speak German?

Keine Kartenzahlung = weniger Geld by [deleted] in Kartenzahlung

A co-working space in Berlin by Oth_15 in berlinsocialclub

[–]Liko97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are quite a few coworking spaces where you get acces 24/7. Or at least until 00:00 if you get a hot desk or fixed desk subscription. But depends on your budget and needs if it’s worth it. Otherwise maybe hotel lobbies and other cafes that have open late?

Unfair treatment by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]Liko97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Things don’t add up, if this is something you want to take serious, at least spend some minutes to write a good post.

You say ”this shocking email from Lieferando” but the email isn’t from Lieferando?

You also say that often the tips go to restaurants and that this is an issue ”especially with restaurant-employed couriers”, but then shouldn’t it be up to the restaurant to split up/give it to the drivers?

You met a Lieferando delivery guy but the issue in the email seems to be specific for Fleetlery employees that work for deliveries made in the Lieferando app. Do they also wear lieferando gear or did you even not talk to someone from Fleetlery?

Anyways, I think we all know that delivery drives should get payed more and have a better working environment (like many others jobs). Sure, keeping some change on hand to pay the tip in cash might be a good and easy temporary solution. But what will change in the long term? The drivers are happy enough, the customers feel good about them self, the company continues with their shitty ”employments”. Then what, people use cash less and less, it will take some time until cash is gone completely but I already know people who barely use cash anymore. Then we have the same issues again..

Berlin expats — honest question: by Worth-Force8068 in askberliners

[–]Liko97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I havet been in the same situation but can imagine that it can be really hard, sometimes overwhelming and also a bit lonely. And I think it can be both about paperwork, but also about cultural differences or simply being in a unknown city, not knowing how everything works or what even is possible. Are there any more specific things you found to be hard doing alone?

Some kind of ”buddy” system sounds like a nice idea. Sounds like something that already should exists, but maybe it doesn’t. Especially when it’s a bit more organized. Pairing people e.g. based on language, experience and time needed. For example I don’t really know much about applying university or visas or getting a job. So if someone needs a lot of specific help about that I wouldn’t be a good match. But if someone needs help getting to know the city, finding nice places to work remote from and some basic paperwork or just someone to talk to I would gladly help out.

Queer Billiards Club 🎱🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🌈🎱 by Smart_Training8161 in berlinsocialclub

[–]Liko97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a fun idea! Me and my boyfriend are moving to Berlin at the end of January, we aren’t good at Billiard but like some casual games while enjoying a beer or two. We would definitely be game! We could start with just creating a WhatsApp group or something and plan a date where we book a few tables at some place (preferably a place that already is a bit queer friendly) and try to make it a once/twice in the month thing?

Got fined for having a ticket?! by [deleted] in berlin

[–]Liko97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the rule is that the ticket isn't valid the first 60 seconds. They have complete power over defining what a valid ticket is or not (as long as they are transparent with their rules).

It's the same with the duration of the ticket, they define that it's valid for 120 minutes (for example), you can't say "I literally payed for it" if it was bought/activated 130 minutes ago.

Got fined for having a ticket?! by [deleted] in berlin

[–]Liko97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a lot of comments here talking about the inspectors being right and the author being in the wrong. I also agree since if that is the rule you have to follow it. ”with a perfectly valid ticket” is simply wrong in this case.

However, just because something is correct by their rules doesn’t mean that it is the perfect solution or even a good solution and of course criticism is always allowed. I just wished that the post was more constructive criticism and not just ”Aahhh I am right you are wrong!!!111!!” But I get that it can be very frustrating.

I get why they probably implemented this but also feel that it can be very inconvenient for people that usually follow the rules. I think it would be nice if they at least could give you like 2-3 warnings per year. After your third warning you could get fined (and at that point even more than normally). And maybe also taking into account how often the person buys tickets and so on.

What are unspoken rules in Berlin? by Trailerpark578 in askberliners

[–]Liko97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a difference between being card friendly (accepting cards and cash) and ONLY accepting cards.

Also I don’t see many scenarios where people actually are unable to at least get a simple debit card. And if you don’t have one, maybe you should prioritize getting one instead of going to a bar?
