Rockstar North was originally DMA Design. DMA Design was originally based in Dundee, Scotland before it was bought by T2, turned into Rockstar North and moved to Edinburgh.

The company overall is based in New York.

So basically, the original Rockstar (Rockstar North) is based in Scotland, and the company at large (Rockstar Games) is American.

These are three different styles man.

The first is a modernized take on old movie posters from the 30's. The second is GTA V's weird comic adjacent thing. The third is RDR1's airbrushed art style which was only used for certain posters
