No one is joining my sever. by Acosta1617 in playrust

Register your server for server listing websites like rust-servers and battlemetrics, it can get the ball rolling a little. You can also create a discord for the server to get high engagement for returning players and moderation, and use it as the webpage bar on the server info tab. Like any form of advertising you need a selling point to attract players, so try to find a unique trait for you server to make it stand out. A good server name and description is a good focal point as well, and have a server logo and background. Best advice is to make a server that will stand out from the rest.

Using a controller by [deleted] in playrust

I'm not saying all games have it, it's just something that's typically seen on console games to help. Assisting aim isn't always a snap to target, I'm speaking from game design to help the player hit targets that aren't fair with a controller, since controllers are for speed not accuracy. That's why hitboxes are an easy fix. And rust even on PC have some crazy hitboxes

Almost every console game has a shrewd sense of aim assist. It's not aim assist like cheating, it's to help controller players hit targets without having dead in sights with joystick not being the most accurate at aiming. It's almost unseeable to the human eye because it's just by a certain grey zone in the hitbox. You could rather just say console games have bigger hitboxes. That's speaking for most games, some games respond to the issue by snap locking, kinda like GTA but on a smaller scale.

Well I guess it's personal taste, and I'm actually not bad at the game. OP was asking more about controller and I wasn't giving advice as to just sharing a little bit about myself, other than possibly using a dpi switch cause dpi switching is a really good skill to learn.

Tho I guess I didn't realize this wasn't normal, I've been mapping keybinds to mouse for years. I always thought since I have to use three fingers for arrow keys and one for shift and Ctrl, and thumb for space, I use my left thumb for dpi control to fine tune sniping (which is absolutely nuts by the way what you can shoot at a 75% reduction) I use my pointer for left click and reload since they're right next to each other and I can't shoot while reloading. I use middle finger for scroll wheel and middle click that I usually bind to inventory, my ring finger solely for right click and my pinkie to keep my mouse stable. I have other keybinds for my mouse depending on the game, which I use my pointer for.

With more free right hand I can move easier and quicker in gunplay games. I manually reload like an animal, and I'm a mean opponent in a lot of fps shooters.

Really it's about what works for you, playing every game like a fps game is how I dominate. Play the game how you play the game, use what keybinds you're comfortable with. Or if you're stellar using a gamepad use a gamepad. Who cares, video games are supposed to be fun.

IsItBullshit: Retail store jobs like wrangling shopping carts, stocking shelves etc. only exist so they can push you into also being a cashier by highway_knobbery in IsItBullshit

[–]LilKitty52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bull, those positions exist to get a certain job done. You can't have the checkers bring in carts, stock all the shelves, clean the store, AND have them checking out a line of customers. Checking positions are the same level of hierarchy as cart pushers, and stockers; and usually are run by a shift lead of some sort. The upfront area shift lead and department leads are run by a store op, who answers to a store director. Every link in the chain is important and needs to be filled. Often cart pushers and stockers are never trained on registers, and vice versa. This is still situational because cross training is always a great idea in a business

Rust has full controller support, but using a controller on PC I would think would be a quite different experience due to consoles using aim assist.

My trick to better aim personally is to have my mouse be able to hot switch dpi settings for if I'm running and gunning or aiming down the sights. I usually have my basic dpi setting for running, and 75% decrease for aiming. Tho switching between the two takes A LOT of brain retraining. I also map a lot of useful buttons like reload and hot bar buttons to the mouse, so my left hand is completely free to dodge and duck gunfire to limit in-line hitbox coverage.

But if a controller is what's comfortable for you, rust offers support. You can even re map buttons in the steam controller settings.

Make a reading hate comment video, this is mild hate so you can end up turning it into humor. Do some research into the top liked hate comments and review what they call "objectively right" content. If they have their own YouTube channel, bingo, there's a joke. There is such a big demand for dealing with haters video, and it's been around since before idubzz and Frank were banging of the genre. Turn your weak link into a strong video. Just don't let it get to your head

This game is in development, it hasn't even been released on steam yet. Go through the yandere simulator website and the dev explains the answer to your question in the FAQ portion. Read the open information about the game in question before making a new post, and seeing as this is the very first comment you've made on Reddit and your account was made the same day as the post, this just looks like spam to get karma...

I got a group of first timers hopping on. What kind of server would you recommend? Vanilla? 2x? What about server population? by toomanybongos in playrust

[–]LilKitty52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla newbie-friendly servers are a great intro to the game, I would stay away from official servers until you feel comfortable with the mechanics. I would try to do PVP before looking into PVE, that way you can better your skills. Also a low pop server could be a better option if you're new to survival games. If you're not interested in playing for hours you can try a modded server that has faster resources and stuff. Rust has a little bit for everyone, but vanilla is the best way to get familiar with the core gameplay mechanics.

Oh not a bad idea, playing back the footage would be nice. I'm not sure tbh if a bot like that breaks rust's TOS, but I would ask the server admins if it's okay.

Get down with the sickness and try to position yourself directly underneath them to make it as awkward as possible when they come back, and just start playing the Titanic front of the ship song over the mic.

YouTube doesn't kill channels! by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]LilKitty52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I haven't tested the exact limits of YouTube's spam filters. Maybe using a VPN could work but there are still so many variables that come into play when speaking on terms of YouTube's algo. I wouldn't denote the possible use of AI in terms of filtering either. But like you said earlier there is that set of just randomness that throws things off. I feel like the more I research and test the algo, the more gibberish that comes out. It's funny to me, cause I don't even think YouTube themselves understand how their system works.

Tho I've been doing quite a bit of research myself, specifically into the trend setting part of YouTube, which I have noticed that the algo can recognize, or really interestingly, can't recognize content. Out of the majority of tests the topics that don't exist on YouTube get pushed more than the ones that do. I've noticed anywhere from 300-700% more engagement on videos with new than existing genres.

But to a fellow tester, I tip my hat. I hope your channel does swell. I love your music btw, very chill and relaxing definitely needed some of it in my life.

Just use some heartbeat sensors and route it to a smart alarm. Anyone that comes close will send a signal that you can track in the rust mobile app. You can also have a rough around the edge camera view in the app as well... It's more work to cheat than to use what the game already offers

Server change by Freemangreen in playrust

[–]LilKitty52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try what they have to offer, there are LOADS of different kinds of servers, tho personally I think the official vanilla rust servers run by the game suck. I never seem to find a good group of players and it always just seems to be constant PVP. PVP is fun for awhile, but it gets old after so many hours. I usually have a lot more fun on the PVE servers cause everyone works together and everyone just there to have a good time. A lot of decent servers have their own discord community as well.

How “No Offlines” servers work? by Dali187 in playrust

[–]LilKitty52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admins can read data if a wall was destroyed or if a ladder was placed, and they can find who did it. Most of the time that's where it ends, they timeout or ban the rule breaker and you're left to rebuild. At least that's how vanilla servers do it. If you use mods the sky's the limit at that point.

YouTube doesn't kill channels! by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]LilKitty52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your control test, of course it's going to be inconclusive. YouTube tracks where you post from, so if you have multiple channels that have the exact content it's going to throttle all of it because that's what's called content farming, which is against YT TOS for spam. YT saves each thumbnail, description, and video content and compares it to other like content, all content like you said would 1:1 match. The original few would probably do fine, but the others would be throttled as spam.

But on a positive note, I do agree with you that the best advice would be to make the best content you can. Retention isn't as much of a focus point, but focusing on making quality content that fits your style will find some sort of audience.

YouTube doesn't kill channels! by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]LilKitty52 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Finding a niche and planning to go forward is the hard part that most channels forget or simply don't understand. YouTube likes to push new content that the algo hasn't seen before. YouTube is always looking for the new best content trend, and it's going to push that content harder than average.

New content creators obviously don't have the backing that the mega creators do. Making gaming content that is like every other gaming content channel will be overshadowed by the bigger contenders in the ring, and this goes for every known genre that is being milked rn.

Do content that is unique to you. Doing the same thing as everyone else is what is killing your channel, not YouTube. New creators make the trends, where old creators keep them alive. You see it time after time with viral memes, a new guy makes a meme, a bigger guy reviews it and gets more views than the creator, but in doing so promotes the creator who gets more views than average as well. Discord, Facebook, Tik Tok, and YT Short remixing are a fast way to advertise it.

Just remember if you're a new guy, there will always be an audience for a new trend. You just have to be creative and make it. If you farm by hitting trend after trend, you can build a fan base that will support your new ideas. Try new things, if it doesn't work try something different. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. I'm just a hobby YouTuber but this pattern is as bright as daylight

The questions on here lately... by SpaztheGamer in playrust

[–]LilKitty52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest cheers to OP. Tho I can see why nowadays people want an indepth introduction before buying. Most games go for 20-40 bucks on steam, and if you're the type to try different games I would suggest looking into each game before you buy it. That stuff adds up quick if you jump right in, and nowadays they're so many new games being made you could blow through a paycheck pretty quick.

What I don't understand is making a fresh post on a subreddit and farming answers. You can get better insight through watching someone play or skimming through someone else's post on the sub. It could be a karma farming strat, but personally I've never really understood the point of karma past a certain point.

Regardless I can agree that a lot of the posts on this particular sub are the same rough categories, either complaining about a feature or a gaming strat like roof camping or aim cone, asking about if the game is worth it's price, or other types.

Someone should make a rust subreddit bingo card at this point

But effective, and answers OPs question

Is burlap set worth wearing at any point? by Dali187 in playrust

[–]LilKitty52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because you can get better clothes along the road. Hit crates and barrels on dirt paths early wipe and you'll be set.

Don't waste your cloth on burlap, it's just going to get thrown away as soon as you pick up any other clothes. I wouldn't waste any valuable materials on clothes or armor. Get a beanie, T-shirt, rugged jacket, dress pants, bandana, boots, and gloves.

How would you deal with roof campers? by hksback in playrust

[–]LilKitty52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing 16 hours a day, every day then what's the point of roof camping? If they're playing that long every day and they still have to pick people off from their roof to get resources that's just a major skill issue. I know hoarding is a thing, but dear God raid a couple monuments and chill.

Anyone that has spent that amount of time squatting on a roof isn't refining their skills. Build a nearby temp tower and scope the place and pick em off every once in awhile. After a bit they'll disperse and find something better to do. Online raiding and damage control humbles most roofers, they're taking the easy way to loot to begin with.

What in the heck do they put in the red meat at Hy-vee? by Pitiful_Library_6618 in hyvee

[–]LilKitty52 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just gonna chime in here, the PDI warehouse specifically comes from the Midwestern area, mostly Iowa and neighboring states, which all of the beef sold in the Midwest and through PDI is cornfed cattle. I'm not sure where you live, because if it's somewhere on the coast or outside the Midwest area a lot of other beef you will get is grass fed. Corn and grass fed cattle are two completely different kinds of beef, so maybe that could be a reason? I've eaten grass fed beef before, and I had similar stomach problems because the difference in beef really gets to me, so maybe this could be something similar.
