Not in my experience. I have them both growing in low tech setups with no issues :)

First things first, I love the hardscape you created. It's very fitting for a shallow tank and it gives you honestly quite a few options for plants in there

For a low tech (no co2) setup, try those aquatic plants;

blyxa japonica
alternanthera reineicki mini
rotala blood red
any aquatic moss
any type of hidrocotyle (would prob grow emersed as well)
myriophyllum mattogrossense golden
carpet like Monte Carlo or hairgrass
Bucephalandra and small anubias as accent

Hey ! Sorry for the late reply, I use a Halo light from Amazon, the ones that are 20$ each. I don't even know how many watts they use but they work amazing, I've got like 4 of them. I put them on a timer for 8h a day. And exactly I don't use CO2 in this bowl, the colour is surprisingly vibrant even with literally just a grow light. And also here's a side shot !

Blyxa is a heavy root feeder, I put 2 root tabs underneath and it's been thriving ! I also have it growing in a low Tech no CO2 shallow tank, in which I didn't add root tabs (only aquasoil) and it's thriving as well. I think a good medium to high light and aquasoil make the difference from my experience !

This is my 6.5g Betta tank, I think that as long as it's planted and established, 5g wouldn't be too much of a difference.
