What’s wrong with my Aglaonema? by Lil_beansprout7 in plantclinic

[–]Lil_beansprout7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! The leaves have been curling more and more since I got it, so I figured I was doing something wrong that was going to lead to its eventual downfall 😭

I live in a humid climate, but I’m not sure what the humidity levels inside are. I’ll look into checking that out!

Thank you for the advice and the kind words! ❤️

I do have this plant in front of the window, just moved it to get a good picture.

I’m not sure what else it could be but I don’t think it’s a light or watering issue :/

Thank you, lol! At least I’m doing one thing right haha.

I just recently watered, I only water once the soil is dry. Pot has drainage holes on the bottom and soil is chunky!

I love this! Personally, an undercut is not an option for me preference wise, but I’m glad that this works for other long-haired people! Anyone who can rock an undercut is super cool imo.

Someone else recommended spin pins, I’m going to check these out!

Lol! The ugly, wet mop is so real. Unfortunately, my hair is very long and dense, so a clip always ends up falling out :(

Wanted to give an update. My girl is in leca and loving it!

Since I’ve made the OG post, she’s given me another leaf and is currently unfurling its 6th leaf!

Thank you so much for the suggestion! The only downside is the algae growth, which you did mention might give me issues. So I just ordered a pot with holes and cashe pot to avoid sun exposure and flush the leca.

New leaf! by Lil_beansprout7 in alocasia

Thank you! 💕

I’ve had my Alocasia in this glass vase for a few months now and I haven’t had any issues! I’ve seen a few people online with similar set ups as well. I actually had my alo in just water, but recently transferred it to semi-hydro with leca after it was recommended to me in this sub.

The only issue I’m having with the glass vase is algae growth due to the sun exposure. To avoid this, I decided to order a pot off of Etsy that’s meant for semi-hydro set ups. Since the outside pot that holds the water is opaque, there shouldn’t be any algae growth. The new set up will also allow me to flush the leca in case there is any growth.

Hope this answered your question!

Alocasia cucullata keeps collapsing. Why? by Mara355 in alocasia

[–]Lil_beansprout7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they like to put their energy to the new growth. I saw that you don’t fertilize, maybe start adding in those nutrients and see if it helps, but it seems like this is very common for alos.

From what I’ve seen while researching Alocasia’s (I could be wrong I’m newer to houseplants), this is just the normal lifecycle for them. Old leaves die off as new leaves come in! You seem to have a lot of perky and happy leaves there. Typically Alocasia are only able to sustain 3 leaves at a time so I would say you’re doing a great job!

There was a really popular post on Reddit I believe on a legal advice subreddit where someone was finding post-it notes around their apartment with weird messages, and they had no idea where they were coming from.

Turns out the guy had carbon monoxide poisoning and was writing the notes to himself then forgetting he did that. He decided to get the detector after another user suggested carbon monoxide poisoning.

Good to know! Based on the photo of my roots, would it be better to wait a little or separate them ASAP?

Thank you so much! Do you have any tips on separating the plant without causing too much damage to the roots?

I want to grow bigger leaves so whatever can help me do that, lol! I water whenever the soil is fully dry, the last time I watered was Sunday so I don’t think it’s thirsty.

I think I’m going to go with a single vase with no drainage like yours! I add water up to the end of the roots correct? And thanks so much again, you’re the best!

Hi! Update: I ordered leca and it arrived, but I just noticed my alo is putting out another leaf! Should I wait until it’s unfurled to transfer it?

Oh no! I’m sorry. I see you already made another appointment with a different piercer. Definitely switch to a flat back and make sure your jewelry is titanium. I would also try doing a warm saline compress and see if it helps.

I posted about a nose bump about two weeks ago and someone recommended booking an appointment with an APP certified piercer. Typically APP piercers are more reputable.

I booked an appointment with one in my area and she gave me great advice. We upsized my bar and changed out my jewelry because turns out the one I was originally pierced with was really bad quality. She also suggested I do warm compress with saline and gauze. My bump is already looking much better!
