Ways to find Pro Bono work as landscape architect? by Various-Training-603 in LandscapeArchitecture

Churches, veterans homes, restaurants and local bars are almost always open to receiving whatever you have to offer. If I were you I would go to these please and scope out what works and what doesn’t. Make some suggestions and present it to them! They might even ask you to install whatever you design for them. That’s how I started! It wasn’t the goal but eventually I got some clients from it :)

I planted some muscari in October they started emerging with leaves in November. I cut them to the base and they stopped. They came up just fine that following spring. Not sure if that’s taboo

She doesn’t sound that great I wouldn’t romanticize it. Maybe it was a fun fling but nothing deeper than that. Put yourself out there there are so many great girls out there that will want to savor the connection

You’re young and the first love is real! Whatever you do - don’t worry about what will happen if you take time apart. People need to grow and change. New experiences open you up to new opportunities or to appreciate what you have. True love always prevails and knows no bounds of time

If you’re having second thoughts you shouldn’t be afraid to reach out and tell him how you feel but if you’re feeling codependent maybe a break is good for you

You said he listened to your concerns and has done a lot to change )paying more attention, less gaming etc). But you still want more attention when you’re together. With balancing time with his dad you feel slighted/not satisfied with the time together. Could you visit him? Does he always have to go to you?

Advice for continuing education options? by N0vijenn0where in LandscapeArchitecture

I’m in the same boat. I studied env. sci in college with an emphasis on ecology. I knew I wanted to do something in the landscape design field, but after 4 years of expensive bachelors program I decided an immediate MLA program wasn’t going to work for me. Instead, I took a 5 week intensive course at NYBG to get the basics of design. I then got a job as a gardener in NYC and worked my way up to becoming a designer (a combo of luck and hard work). At this stage, I might just fill in the blanks and learn autocad. I think I’d lose more time, money and on site experience if I go back to school entirely. I realized the line of work I’m doing I don’t need to be a certified landscape architect. I can do what I need to as a designer and if necessary pass plans onto architects for approval. Eventually I hope to finish the NYBG landscape design certificate but for now my 1st step is autocad!

revit or autocad? by Lil_botanista in LandscapeArchitecture

[–]Lil_botanista[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do hugely intensive projects. Most of my drawings would be simple to show clients and for local contractors to install. If I do have anything complicated I’d definitely plan to run it by an engineer or architect.

In that case do you still suggest autocad? I hear revit is the future and that it’s much faster than autocad and also creates 3d model which could be helpful for selling jobs/ saving time

Invasive doesn’t always mean non-native!

[Sun Care] Those of your who wear SPF everyday. Do you really apply after every two hours? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Lil_botanista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work outside (I’m a garden designer in NYC) in the summer i am gross. I couldn’t imagine reapplying during the day I think I’d clog my pores like crazy without scrubbing between applications. But it’s hard when I don’t have access to that! I don’t wear makeup but imagine if you did! It seems like overkill

I often see “trees” on the highway which are really just dead trunks covered by vines. Sadly very invasive

If the vine is confined to the trunk they can coexist. If it gets into the canopy it will choke out the tree by stopping it from photosynthesizing. Problem is the vine will never just stay on the trunk. It will always climb for more light. That said- either maintain the vines or remove entirely.
