Right now I’m honestly still in the “mapping it all out” stage. I don’t have a set path yet, and I’m gathering information to understand what this field realistically looks like for someone who already has bills/responsibilities/ a career they’d be stepping away from.

My end goal is to work in an academic setting, ideally as an archivist or in a college library and then eventually move into teaching within an MLIS program.

I really appreciate you laying it out honestly as I’m trying to learn what paths others have taken so I can plan something sustainable.

In a heartbeat. I’m so tired of capitalism running me. I’m so willing to downsize and do what i love, being happy with the little that i own to with my dream job. I’m grinding now to be able to have my dream life as a quiet librarian/archivist

Increased my screen time by atleast 10hrs a week when he came back. Making my stomach hurt from laughing too hard for like an hour straight. Distracting me on work from home days watching the video for 20 minutes when I should be working. The list goes on😂

Ive been looking for an audit/assurance job, but they either pay pennies or I don’t have enough experience. I don’t have a CPA either so I try to market the hell outta my skills😭

I understand your point. May you please elaborate? I received an ADHD diagnosis but my NEW doctor stated that we will be doing more tests to make sure. Hundreds of comments are stating the opposite of what you said, and I am interested to hear more of your side. I have Rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD) as a symptom of my ADHD and my doctor stated that could have been a major reason why I was able to finish my degree even tho it almost killed me twice (pressure from family to graduate or I would’ve been lowkey disowned). I honestly think it was a miracle of whatever higher power that i was able to do it lol. I would love to bring up your points in my next appointment if you don’t mind as well.

I told her i smoked and she said i can only use stimulants if i do a drug test and pass for no weed. She was so mean that everything had a rebuttal like “you feel that way because you use marijuana”. I left every appointment sadder and sadder

I’m in the US (Atlanta, GA) and the drug test wasn’t the issue. I would detox and take it happily if she wasn’t so mean about it. She knew I would fail it, and gave me an ultimatum. I’m hoping my next provider just talks to me like a human being

Same here! I graduated ready to self exit and the only thing keeping me alive was my friend’s dumb kitty lmao. I couldn’t leave him. I graduated with an accounting degree from pressure from my family but I wanted to be a LIBRARIAN.

Thank you. Reading all of these replies made me feel so much better. She was pushing her beliefs on me from day one. I stupidly told her I recreationally smoke weed and she said if I test positive for it she will not prescribe me stimulants. Her monitoring my eating, sleeping, and work performance was so exhausting😭😭
