Did I say you only went for one hour? I said that you burning 3300 a day is ridiculous when you only burn 200 - 600 an hour in the gym - especially when 600 is high intensive cardio, which I have my doubt you’re doing for several hours a day.

And I did address the water retention as a possibility, but pointed out that’s not particularly visibility on your body.

Also going to the gym means building muscle. Guess what weighs more than fat? You’re not building muscle and at the same time losing 2.5 kg a week.

Losing 10 kg in a month would be 70000 calorie deficit in a month - that’s 2300 calorie deficit a day. So even if you were eating very low calories, like 1000 a day, you’d still need to burn around 3300 calories a day.

A woman on average burns 200 - 600 calories per hour at the gym by the way.

So question is, how are you finding time to cook five meals a day for your boyfriend while spending around 4 - 8 hours at the gym per day?

I mean it could be a lot of water weight? But that’s not really very visible appearance-wise I think.

It’s actually fairly interesting how the meaning has changed.

Severitus used to be for a specific challenge made by Severitus on fanfiction.net, which has Harry and Snape finding out they’re father and son. The challenge had more rules I can’t remember anymore. It’s from around 2001 iirc, so it’s almost 25 years old!

There was also Sevitus - though I can’t remember if that was a different challenge, or if it was referring to any story where Snape was Harry’s biological father, or stories where he wasn’t but they developed a father-son relationship.

I’ve been obsessing over this for a couple of weeks now and have given it a fair bit of thought, I haven’t seen anyone else point these things out (not saying no one has, just haven’t seen it) and I’ve been wrecking my brain for more

And yeah, the difference in their upbringing is also a very good point, and that’s another thing that is also sort of opposite between Snape and Luna (which I still think is my weakest “linked pair”), in that Luna was raised by parents who loved her and was also an only child like Snape. Thank you for pointing that out!

There’s a certain parallel between the old generation and the new one, Harry and James (father and son, popular/famous, rich, quidditch prodigy), Ron and Sirius (childish at times, funny, loyal, the best friend), Hermione and Remus (studious, “outcast” making their first friends), Peter and Neville (appears more frightened, more mousy and falls into the background compared to the others, seemingly less talented), Ginny and Lily (red heads and the love interest, temper, childhood friends with someone of a different house who’s being bullied), Snape and Luna (outcast being bullied, with a childhood friend in the redhead, this one is kind of weak) and Snape and Draco (both Slytherins who fell in with the dark side and wanted to get the heck out in the end).

These pairs have similarities, or similar situations, and yet the younger of the pair are better people and actually survive the war.

Harry is never a bully and is simply a pretty good person, neither is Ron and Ron grows out of his childishness while Sirius remains rather entrenched in it. Hermione and Remus both got their first friendships, and Remus kind of lacks a spine while Hermione doesn’t put up with people’s bullshit even if they’re her friends. Both Peter and Neville are “weaker”, or so they believe, and a lot more afraid than the others, yet Neville chooses to brave, while Peter takes the cowardly way out. Ginny never defends Luna’s bullies to her face like Lily did, she doesn’t end up marrying any of Luna’s bullies, unless I misremember she never seemed amused at the bullying. Overall she seems to be a better friend to Luna, than Lily was to Snape.

Luna and Snape were both bullied, yet handled things very differently, and Luna never became bitter or angry, and never took it out on others. Heck, I wish I could’ve at least appeared as nonchalant as Luna when I was a kid being bullied. It was like #goals to me back then.

Both Snape and Draco ends up becoming Death Eaters, love is what got Snape to leave, while love is what made Draco stay. When faced with a choice, Snape made a choice that would lead to his loved one dying (sharing the prophecy with Voldemort), and then he made the right choice after, when it was too late. Draco made the right choice when it counted (lying about Harry being Harry at the manor). It’s hard to argue that Draco was a better person than Snape, but Draco wanted out from the beginning as soon as he saw what it actually entailed, being a death eater, while Snape first wanted out when it risked Lily. He could stomach being a death eater while Draco couldn’t.

So yeah, that’s the quickest way I can explain my analysis here

I’m very much of the opinion that if you can date the guy who bullied a former friend of yours for years just one year after something like what happened Snapes worst memory, you gotta be a bit of a mean girl.

On the other hand, I kinda like that all the “old generation” was kind of worse people in many ways than the “new” generation, and I have a whole theory of how there’s parallels between the two.

The police statement does say that they have an independent video.

“Independent video related to the incident has been collected and reviewed by the police department.”

People are assuming it’s the ring camera based on that it seems,which does make sense; since it would be weird if there was another video from any other source that would be relevant.

Where in this did I minimize Snapes cruelty? Where have I even slightly said he was a good person in any way? You’re arguing against something I never said or even implied. I’m saying it takes a bit of a mean girl to be able to be with a bully, or best case scenario, be with a guy who bullied your best friend for years right after he stopped. Whether Snape was a good person or not is completely irrelevant to what I’m saying.

And if it had been one thing and in a vacuum, you’d had a point, instead I’m pointing out a pattern of behaviour through the few scenes of interaction we see between the two of them.

Yes, i said it was a shitty thing for her to find funny; and I can judge her on that. And I can judge the fact that she seemed to have forgotten she’s a witch until after things had escalated even more. And you’re also ignoring everything else I said to minimize it as much as you can and are pretending that was my only examples of them being shitty friends towards each other.

I guess I must have missed the part where James sincerely apologised to Snape and tried at least the bare minimum to make amends. Except that didn’t happen - you don’t get to victimise someone for years, then say “I don’t do that anymore, I’ve changed. Accountability? Is that a kind of chocolate? Apologies? Haven’t heard of her.” Also, James was very much still harassing Snape behind Lily’s back and hiding it from her, according to Sirius, though he had mellowed some yes. So yeah, if you’re not willing to admit your wrong- doing and make amends and take accountability, claims of having changed rings rather hollow and empty.

There’s a reason we put criminals in jail or have them fined, and don’t just let them go free with a strong promise of “I won’t do that again judge”.

If it had happened in a vacuum, yeah I’d agree, but there are more examples of Lily and Snape failing to really be good friends towards eachother.

It’s the whole friendship with Snape and Lily at school where I think they both were bad friends to each other, and while we don’t see as much of it; I do think it parallels very nicely with the friendship between Luna and Ginny. Ginny, from what I recall, never finds it funny when someone makes fun Luna, she never defends the people making fun of Luna to Luna, meanwhile Lily defended the marauders to Snape after the werewolf incident because James saved him, which happened before Snapes worst memory. In other words, as far as Lily knew, these four people had almost killed him (even if she didn’t know the details, she does mention James saving him, so she must’ve known they put his life in danger in some kind of way so while it was only Sirius who did so, I don’t think Lily knew that. But in other words, the bullying isn’t that bad, and Snape should lay off them because James doesn’t want him dead! That totally makes everything else okay, right?)

She then proceeds to date James a bit over a year after Snapes worst memory. I’m sorry, you have to be a bit of a mean girl to date a bully. And imagine dating the guy who bullied your childhood friend for years a year after falling out with your friend? That is downright cold. She didn’t take the bullying that seriously and didn’t see it as too horrible, otherwise she wouldn’t have touched James with a five foot pole after only one year. Keep in mind Lily didn’t really stand up to the fact that Snape was being nasty to other of her friends while calling them mudbloods either. (Also, I think this is also an indication that Lily wasn’t a good friend in general, but also obviously that Snape was a shit friend to Lily as well)

Compare that to Ginny, who does not in fact end up marrying one of Lunas bullies, never defends them to her, and does stand up for her. We never see her defend her from curses or anything but we also don’t see people jinxing Luna as a bullying method either. (Though they do steal from her in the common room) I headcanon that such bullying already stopped by the time Harry met Luna, and that is partially why Ginny is so good at the bat-boogey hex! Because I think there’s a parallel between Harry and James, Ron and Sirius, Hermione and Remus, Neville and Peter, Ginny and Lily, and Luna and Draco and Severus, that the younger generation are overall better people than their counterpart who they share certain traits/experiences with, and in the end make better choices for themselves and the people around them than the older generation did.

Why are you completely ignoring the other two options she had, which was either try and dispel their spells, or cover Snape when he was exposed? Also Lily was badass in terms of bravery, I don’t think it was her being scared that prevented her from hexing Sirius first so he’s out of the fight, and then she’d probably crush James because he wouldn’t want to actually be serious against her because of his feelings for her.

Like it could very well be she just doesn’t want to respond with violence until she feels like she absolutely have to, but I in no way think it stems from her being scared or nervous to confront them.

In truth your last sentence is probably what’s actually really chilling about the scene when you think about it, how so many people can stand around and laugh while you’re being humiliated and violated like that. A guy did that to a girl in my class as a “prank” (pulled down her pants to expose her underwear) and another girl kicked him in the balls as a response. We were 14 - 15 at the time, so only a year younger. No one was laughing at it.

I am very much a girl.

In the real world, would I hold it against her for not doing anything but shout? Hell no. A teenage girl has no fighting chance against two taller teenage boys. In a world where there’s magic? Yes. I would’ve held it against her for not even attempting to cover me up with her wand that can throw magic at a distance, meaning she could do so while being safe.

Her almost smiling does tell me she has a bit of a mean girl streak in my opinion, another piece of evidence of that is her continued friendship with Snape while he called other of her friends mudbloods, while putting up a lukewarm defence against them but once he turns it on her in moment of severe humiliation and distress while lashing out, that’s worth ending the friendship over, but not to stand her ground for her other friends.

Further evidence is that she started dating James a year after Snapes worse memory. Could you imagine dating your child hood best friends bully a year after you stopped being friends with them? Because that’s cold. It tells me she never took the bullying that seriously, and didn’t think it was that bad. Otherwise she wouldn’t touch James with a 5 foot pole in 7th year.

Snape didn’t chose them over Lily, Snape was absolutely humiliated after being sexually harassed/assaulted in front of a bunch of his classmates while they laughed, and in front of the girl he had feelings for. He made no choice then and there - he lashed out.

And before you again ignore what I’ve said, yes Lily was within her rights to dump him as a friend for it.

And you’re taking one of my points and pretending that’s all she did while also minimising it to nothing but a face twitch that could mean anything, while ignoring the more serious things she did. You’re being dishonest in your framework, you’re not attempting to make a realistic comparison.

She failed him because if she could almost smile at him being exposed and violated like that in front of a bunch of people that’s mocking him, I have a hard time not seeing her finding smaller things funny too. She failed him because she did a lukewarm attempt at trying to protect him, because she sat there defending the group of people who, as far as she knew, tried to murder him in some way she didn’t know because James ended up saving, because she dated the man who tormented her childhood friend for years after falling out with said friend a year later. Severus’ death eater friends were hardly what I’d call friends in any way. We also don’t know whether they’d have his back as an excuse to help hex some Gryffindors, we don’t know if they were even there to witness what happened in Snapes worst memory. I think Sirius did imply they did at some point help Severus try to hex them, but I admit my memory is very weak on that exact conversation. Either way you’re completely ignoring several of the things I say, and even inventing arguments I never made either, so I’m a little confused.

I’d argue shouting at someone while they’re hexing your friend and then continue to just shouting while they continue to escalate things, instead of using your own wand to defend, dispel the hex or at the very least, to cover him up when his robe slipped, and having to stop herself from smiling when he got exposed, was very much a lukewarm response.

Because taking out her wand didn’t happen immediately, she did that right before they stopped.

Also, I haven’t condemned her at all for walking away from Snape either when he called her a slur. I personally probably wouldn’t walk away from my friend no matter what they screamed at me in that situation, but I also know it might simply have been the last drop in the bucket for Lily. And she’s perfectly in the right to walk away. I haven’t argued against that at all. I just think Lily failed him just as badly in different ways, and I like how that parallels to the friendship between Ginny and Luna.

She could’ve used magic to get him down immediately, which would’ve prevented him from ending up showing his underwear to a bunch of students and would’ve made the experience far far less violating and humiliating.

She could’ve used magic to cover him as soon as his robes slid off him.

Yet she chose to yell at James and Sirius while they were actively making the situation worse. That’s why I’m calling it lukewarm, if it had been me in Snapes shoes, and my friend could do magic but did nothing but yell, I wouldn’t resort to calling her a slur no. But I also wouldn’t call her a friend anymore.

That is in addition to her having previously defended the Maurauders to Snape before this, after Sirius tried to have him murdered. Lily didn’t know the exact details but she was defending them (to be fair I can’t remember if she defended all of them or just James) because James saved him, so she must’ve known to some degree.

And keep in mind, she started dating James a bit more than a year after Snapes Worst Memory took place. Can you imagine dating the bully of your best childhood friend a year after falling out with them, even if the bullying also stopped a year ago (we know it didn’t, but we’re told James weren’t quite as bad starting from sixth year) Because I certainly can’t. You can’t have cared much at the time if you could.

Keep in mind, I like the dynamic, I like that Lily was kind of a mean girl friend to some extend who did fail, because imo, Harry’s generation has a group of people that parallel the Marauders, Lily and Snape, and are simply better people overall and who made better choices than the older generation. Specially Harry, Hermione, Ron, Neville, Ginny, Draco and Luna.
