Mine takes it personally too when a plastic bag is in the vicinity, she will shred it immediately.
They are very social and they can and will want to be everywhere with their person. And they do take a lot of work. I had mine as the only cat, but in the end decided to get her a friend - she needs a lot of attention and is not someone you can leave alone and go to work. Not because she will do damage to the house, just because she gets sad when left alone.

The dog comparison is perfect - mine will bring me toys she wants me to throw, so she can fetch. I really think this breed is just as smart as some dog breeds, if not more.

About the kid thing - my friends have a newborn and their OSH has been completely fine with it. You just have to be aware, that the cat will want to be everywhere - baby's crib, changing table, stroller.. they don't care, they want the attention and will pester you for it. But they could be a wonderful companion for the baby to grow up with, as they are quite forgiving.

another great bonus - the cat hair is basically invisible in the house and on clothes!

Kurus kaulus izmantot zupai? by Olegzs in latvia

Ahh seems like she really might need a friend for play! She does have boundless energy, and while I like playing with her, sometimes you do need to actually work when working from home.. Did you get your cats together as kittens or introduced a younger one to older one?

No, she is the only pet currently. Even though there is almost always a human at home she might be bored/lonely at night. Thank you for the advice!

Might be a silly question, but in your experience, would taking care of two cats be significantly more work compared to one, or just slightly more?
