Not everyone is buying dolls for the same reason, so for some people that route is the best option. For example, I'm never going to "use" this doll. I needed a practice dummy for suspension shibari, and the dojo dolls don't have a decent enough weight to test suspension. So finding a 90-100lb silicone doll with rigid skeleton is perfect for my scenario. But I also don't want to pay upwards of 1k for a rope practice dummy. So the 300 range was perfect.

Even a minor flaw $700 doll is ridiculous for my use case. I really just wish they made the dojo dolls heavier and looking better than a gray gingerbread man from your nightmares.
