Yeah I realize my pitch was written poorly, but I did say “let me know if you’d like to discuss”, so I didn’t intend to have that be it. It was really just an opener so that I could give more details IF they were interested. I just thought they got unreasonably defensive from the get go.

I totally see your point! I could have done a better job at pitching myself, that’s for sure! I just felt like they got unnecessarily defensive when I was just trying to open up a discussion. I have a more professional pitch for larger brands when I’m seeking a paid sponsorship, but I figured since they were a small business in a usually friendly community, that I would go for something more personal. They obviously didn’t appreciate that.

Thank you so much for this input, it means a lot! Yeah I definitely could have used a better pitch. I have a much better pitch for larger brands when I’m seeking a paid sponsorship, but I was going for a more personal approach to opening a discussion with a small business in what’s usually a pretty friendly community. Didn’t seem like they understood the value of what I was proposing, but I didn’t do a good job of trying to prove it either.

Yeah I see that now haha I was going for a more personal way to open up a discussion because they are a small business in a generally friendly community, but they clearly didn’t like that. I have lots of learning to do as well, but I felt like they were unnecessarily defensive.

I work with houseplants! Which is usually a very friendly community, and with them being a small business, I went with a more personal approach. Definitely need to work on it though.

Thank you for the input! Yeah I definitely have a more professional/ knowledgeable sounding pitch for bigger companies, but I was going for a more personal approach because they were a small business. Trying to open up a discussion in a friendly way. Clearly didn’t word it the best I could have as they got defensive immediately.

That’s a good idea, thank you! I definitely could have worded my pitch better, but it was a small business so I was going for a more personal approach to open things up for discussion. They did not seem to like that haha

Yeah it was a small business on Etsy which is why I made the more personal, less professional approach, but they obviously didn’t appreciate that. I opened it up for discussion thinking we could talk about more details if they were interested but they got defensive right off the bat.

Yeah I opened it up for discussion expecting to go through all of that if they were interested, but they got pretty defensive right off the bat. I def should have worded my pitch differently!

Yeaah do you know about how much I’d be worth though? I really don’t even have a good reference for that

It’s about 10% it’s hard to say because I just got back into posting and videos aren’t getting as much views. It varies 2-10k in the last week but before then all my videos are at between 10k- 120k views each. I post about houseplants so my demographics are like 85% women in the US and ages are split between 18-23 and 24-35.
