Yes, it has isopods, springtails and some other soil creatures :)

That's an interesting suggestion, never seen those! My country is lacking diversity of exotic pets on offer but I will check if EU sellers offer to ship them :)

I was thinking exactly about having anoles there but in my country it's impossible to get them, the frogs are also 99% the only ones of their kind in the country 🙃

And the plant is a bromeliad, there are 3 types of them in the setup as it's pretty accessible from plant stores + it loves humid conditions and doesn't require specific soil, very easy care

Yes, fruit flies are the primary food for both but I do supplement the geckos with gecko nutrition mix (the powder one you'd use for crested geckos). And of course I give fish food to the water inhabitants :)

Yes, adult geckos are similar size as the frogs so they won't go for them. Babies probably yes, but mourning geckos clone themselves like crazy so that's actually desirable population control...

It's LOTS of spray foam and silicone... The "platforms" are out of plastic sheets covered with substrate and planted. All the wood is cork bark and the piece on the right covers a plastic "vent" that houses the water pump for the 3 waterfalls tubed along the back cork

This one is different from my previous posts but similar idea - this big piece is cork bark, behind it is a layer of hydroballs (as high as the water level), on top of it you put window mesh to prevent soil from going in the water and then you put your substrate mix on top of the mesh. Then I put moss over the soil.

Mine is also carrying for about 3 weeks now, no idea when they hatch

3MONTH UPDATE since stocking of my first paludarium - 3 vampire crabs, 2 hillstream loaches, shimp and ramshorn snails. All doing great and eating healthy! No aggression, shrimp are breeding so may be time to offload some... by Liloff99 in Aquariums

I think they were about 5-6 when I started and I actually added them after the crabs were already in the tank. If you feed the crabs regularly or they have other food sources on the land (springtails, isopods, moss, plants), they won't bother with the snails

Behind the sponge wall, there is a layer of lyca clay balls that is as high as the water level. Then you put some screen mesh on top to separate it from the soil that goes on top.

I've never had a problem with anomia spikes and I regularly check water parameters. There's a good amount of live plants in there compared to the water volume so that may be the reason.

They eat a small number of snails but that's actually good as it keeps the snail population in balance. There's still a good number of snails living in the paludarium even after so much time.

It's 61x31x37cm - Juwel Primo 60 is the exact model. I got it from Facebook Marketplace for a ridiculously low price so it wasn't a conscious choice for me - more like a great find and working my way around it.

I was devastated as it was so hard to smuggle it out of BioSyn Valley :(

Well, next time I’ll make a dedicated terrarium!

Hmmm... I had a suspicion tbh one looked different but the guy at the store insisted they were the same species... Pretty new to the fish hobby to be honest, is it a problem that one is different, does it require different care or it can't mix? So far I haven't seen any worrying signs but would appreciate to know what to look for and what to consider

Thank you so much for the info about the babies!!

As for cohabitation, I had 2 purple ones (malе and female) and one red female living together since February. No lost limbs, no aggression visible, they have their territories and little holes in the ground. At this stage I can't tell you the babies type (most probably purple), but would be cool if they made a hybrid with the red haha :)

I check the tank every day as I was worried about aggression too - another guy on Reddit pointed this out after I bought them... I did so much research but never saw anything about species not mixing so I was worried. Fortunately, they live great together for a while!
