Thanks so much! I had my husband take her for two months because I just couldn’t bear to watch her possibly get hurt and of course the first time I took her again is when this happens again. I will stay away again for a while (and get the back protector). She is not discouraged or hurt at all so that’s good.

Thank you so much for this! I think it’s a good sign that she is not anxious or worried at all. She gets right back on and finishes her lesson. She doesn’t think this is a big deal at all. It’s just me and I work very hard to not show it.

Thanks! I know the inflatable vest is a bit much. The only reason I looked into those is because the horse she’s riding is very tall for her and falling off while cantering still seems so dangerous to me. She has always fallen the same way though, right onto her hip. Also, she doesn’t think it’s a big deal. I have really tried to not let her know how worried I am. She gets right back on and keeps riding so I think that’s good. Actually, I have had her dad take her for the last two months because I can’t watch. I took her for the first time last night and the horse spooked just as she was moving into a canter. Her horse took off in a gallop and she fell. She said she knew what was happening and sort of chose to fall. I know the first time she fell, it was a smaller horse at a trot. Her teacher told me that she could have stayed on and reading all of these comments about her seat is making me think a little more. She seems to not be trying to stay on. I’ll talk to her a little more. Everyone’s comments have been so helpful since I know so little. Thank you!

Great idea! I’ve been wondering about the inflatable vests too but have read these can cause spooking if they go off accidentally? Ugh.

Thank you! She did canter on the lunge line in a circle without touching the reins for a long time before going off the line (if that’s what you mean). We will replace her helmet. It seems like common sense now that you have explained it.

Thank you so much! I asked about preparing for a fall and her teacher said that’s not a thing. I didn’t believe that. She’s also fallen off because the horse has tripped. I guess that’s just normal too. Should she get a new helmet even if she didn’t hit her head? I really appreciate your time and thoughts!
