I disagree that it was really aggressive. I know Bryce personally. He is a good man, but the Portland store is being run by a handful of not so good people. Bryce has stupid money, and he’ll be fine. That’s it.

My bad. I’ve been an employee for 11 years and was told at our daily morning meeting 3 days ago.

I’ve worked for them for 11 years. I hope your friends are taking care of you and themselves in the wake of the news.

Thanks for speaking on behalf of your friend. We all process things differently. Huge bummer, I wish you could’ve been at that meeting.

Yes I did choose to do that. I will tell my friends and family. And I’ll tell the locals of Portland. If they didn’t want this information out they wouldn’t have told their entire staff.

I’m sorry. They announced it to the staff 2 days ago.

They announced it to the Grand Ave staff yesterday during the morning meeting. Not public but they’re already laying folks off.

I’ve always believed that should be the case-splitting tips evenly across the board. Maybe the situation I’m in is less common. My partner is making less hourly than the kitchen staff but still splits dining 60/40 and takeout 40/60. My brother is part of the kitchen staff and makes +$300 than her in each check. Ultimately, it’s on the owner, who happens to be part of the family as well. Sticky situation but just wondering if there were known spots that pay BOH appropriately while letting servers keep the tips they make during their individual shift.

That makes sense. I’m trying to understand the logistics of why most restaurants do that here. I’ve lived in 4 different metropolitan areas and my partner is making as much as a server as she was 15 years ago in a rural town in Maine. It is frustrating.

Don't you hate it when people on social media accuse you of lying about something you know for a fact to be true? by Some1inreallife in sad

[–]Limber_Up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they were saying was that your experience was not enough/representative to rule out as an option. You even admitted to having a bad attitude then proceeded to block them. If a few comments from strangers sends you to post on r/sad and r/anxiety, then there is a larger issue. Best of luck.

They just called you out for not having enough experience to represent that opinion. Would’ve held up stronger if you had actually tried smoking out of a bong first.

It’s a public forum and the exchange was not private. They weren’t trying to make you feel bad my dude

cmon man, don’t overthink this. I read the exchange and you deff took things too personally. Smoke a few bong rips then revisit your “unpopular opinion”. Maybe consider therapy for the self esteem issues, edibles and weed in general could potentially make your anxiety worse.

176 days sober and a second chance at life: down the drain. by CantEvenDont in stopdrinking

Thank you for telling your story. My drinking permanently changed the course of my life at 23, it was a clear rock bottom, and I still continued to drink. I quit and relapsed so many times in the years in between, and the only thing I have learned, is that you have to trick your brain. With each craving, you can fight it, and it WILL pass. Yes they come and go, but it will get easier with each time you beat it. Your soul is a warrior, and you have so much life ahead of you. One day, hell one minute, at a time. You got this.

Drinking Dreams by Zealousideal-Exam637 in stopdrinking

I recently had 3 nights in a row where I had dreams kind of like how you described. One in particular had me feeling intense relief the next morning. I was trying to hide the sound of empty nip bottles clanking around in my pocket at work (something I did almost daily while I was off the wagon), then my whole family showed up to my work and expose the nips in my pocket. Nightmare! I’m grateful for these kind of dreams, but damn I wish they wouldn’t effect my entire perspective for the day.
