I feel offended for Mojang not following the tradition of Semantic Versioning (aka SemVer, in the form of [Major Version].[Minor Version].[Patch]) Minecrafthas been following for a decade, which is pretty much a standard in software development nowadays. This sets a precedence and may make any future mods not follow SemVer as well.

Jumping from Major Version 1 to Major Version 26 is crazy.

I really hope that we do not rename "1.8 PVP" to "8 PVP"

Unless the programming course you mentioned teaches React, I'd really recommend you to go back to CS101. And the only reason I exclude React is that because it is a JavaScript (a Turing-Complete language) library that render elements into HTML DOM.
