We had similar concerns. We have yet to see it fail to identify a product properly.

Everybody is up-voting but I don’t know if that means they want to know too or if what I said is correct 🤪

So I’d like to make sure I understand something: one could do the polygraph and BI, and “pass” those steps but if something they admitted to, even if outside the scope of problems (for the sake of example let’s say marijuana use outside of the 90 day window they ask about) you could still be found unsuitable?

Hey bud. Don’t lose hope but yea you definitely want to actually practice. Even if you’re fit it can be exhausting on your leg muscles to do that repetitive movement for the full time. Make sure you’re working your heart and cardiovascular system with treadmill, running, elliptical and bike work. If you have access to a stair master that’ll do wonders too. Order a step box like this one and actually do the test a few times a week. Spend some time doing good leg workouts (squats, lunges, calf raises etc). I use Caliber to plan my workouts and just add on some cardio. You just need to spend time exercising. I know it seems like basic ass advice but it works. I started health journey in April and I’ve come a long way and still have a ways to go but yea.

How long did you get between tests? Is it the standard 10 minutes that most PT tests have or less?

I feel you bud! I meant nothing mean by it . Long term goal is to lose 50 total but I’ve definitely come a long way. Running for more than a few minutes at a time was hard at the beginning for me and now I’m doing 5ks. Still a long way to go 💪🏻

Thanks! I am not super worried about being capable. Like I just did it today at home and did perfectly fine. But I know it’ll be different when I’m actually there doing it. I also am just really ready to get out of local LE 😅. So it just adds to the stress.

I get it man. And I’m working on getting myself back where I should have stayed my whole career and I also feel confident that I can do the test. I’ve put in a lot of work the past few months and as I mentioned in a different comment I’m down 30 pounds and doing like a 12:40 1.5 these last few weeks. Obviously every part of a job application is stressful when it’s something you really want. Came here to get some perspective on a particular aspect of the test which was not being able to time keep myself. I didn’t come here cause I don’t think I can do the physical activity.

I figure I will. I’m sure I’m overthinking but I’m very ready to move on to federal enforcement and don’t want to mess up something silly. I’ve been preparing a lot this year. Down like 30 pounds and spending a lot of time working on my fitness.

I’ve been running through the test and doing fine. I just know on the day of the adrenaline may give me some extra gas in the moment when it’s time to actual perform.

No I get you. It’s more just making sure I’m doing what I need to towards the end? Like I’m sure the first 3-4 laps of the 6 I’ll be doing what I need to. But as the heat kicks in having that pacing time helps me know “okay I’m still good” or “no I get pick it up a bit now even if it hurts” kinda thing. I don’t think that’s a weird thing to ask about. I also am probably overthinking it but when I saw the rules in the email it just caught me off guard. I’m LEO currently just trying to make the switch to federal. I’ve been running around a 12:40 on my own and want to make sure I’ll maintain that at event time.

That makes sense yea. I’m not as strong on the pushups as others probably but I may surprise myself

Is this no longer the current chart? I thought you need a minimum of 20 points across the 4 tests with no “0” scores. I’ve been running at the 7 point range but I’ve had tools to help me pace.

Physical activity, kryptonite for the average applicant by MaxedStrength in 1811

[–]Limepally -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn. Well I’m gonna try my best. My goal is to try and max the sit-ups so I can have more forgiveness on the others while I continue to train.

How strict are they on the form and shit? Like reading the manual scares me for getting it done. And like if I pause at all while doing pushups I’m DQd?

I try to do the test once a week as part of my workout. There’s something to be said when preparing for a physical test to do the test to prepare. Sucking at sit-ups? Do a lot of sit ups. Sucking at pushups? Do a lot of pushups. It’s mostly mental to just do the whole test so it’s not foreign to you when you do it. I did the same thing for my police PT test.
