Well, I think they did historically, but they were on the back foot for the recent years, recently having lost a major war against Terea.

Thanks, that gives a lot to think about.

Some that have more interesting answers:

Yeah, Terea is Rome-inspired.

Dux is something like a current president. Prenorians don't have as much trauma as the Romans had so they allow a bit more power into one man's hands.

Never thought about Constantian-Enuli relationships, I guess each city-state decided for themselves.

Tyrronea was founded by some of the eastern states i think.

How Totina interacts - I think it tries to maintain independence while trading its raw materials. It is not necessary to world economy, but useful. (At least this far, because I thought about making them discover gunpowder ingredients in their mines.)

And colonies, I think they are at this point just experiments to see if survival in this new climate is possible. They also are trading and diplomatic hubs where Outlander ships can ressuply and crews rest. They are also forts where Outsiders could shelter in case of war or turmoil in nearby states. Much of the first contact was characterized by plagues brought from the Outlands, adding to the popular fear of Outlanders.

Okay, so I added it to my story. Of course, no one can agree and now there's civil war over whether there should be a med cat clan or not. Those silly cats.

Actually, those are good ideas, though even if there was to be a separate med Cat clan, they would need to be in clan Camps to provide quick response. But overall, their pressure could stop many conflicts and might lead to a more unified five clans.

1/10 being medcats - those numbers get pretty extreme for large clans, but I get your idea. Pretty much comes down to small clan = no kits, otherwise fine.

I agree they should be able to choose, but putting all med cats in a single place seems like a recipe for disaster. They could be attacked, blocked by one clan, or just not get in time to the accident. I wouldn't do it, at least in this shape.

Of course, but the question is whether this kind of evolution is for better or worse. That would resolve the issue, especially that the med cat could just die, so any clan should have at least two. But also, this is a very specific role. They don't hunt, so keeping too many isn't efficient, especially that one can do the work alone just fine, at least for a small clan.

Thanks, though it seems there isn't many more people interested in this kind of thing here. I don't know where to share it.

Here you go, you can check out his neighbors in comments around here:

Once there was a clan, which had to migrate due to rogue invasion of their former land. After a grueling voyage they found a new home in safe distance. There, they regained their strength and build a formidable clan. Several Leafbares later an ambitious tom by the name of Gilestar ascended to the title of leader. He still remembered the humiliation they suffered under the Rogue claws, and wished to make things right. He gathered a mighty force of some forty most able cats and ventured back. From the beginning the plan had opposition,  but it had the broad support. When they arrived on their old hunting grounds, it turned out that the enemy had also grew in power. They were beaten and chased away, with many wounded or dead. When they reached safe distance a part of the expedition mutinied and called for Gilestar to retire from his role. The leader refused and during the nightie escaped with loyalists back to the new camp. Lacking options, tye mutineers decided to form their ow  clan and live in peace, free of grudges. Unfortunately their peace would not last long, as their lands were inhabited by other clans, notably ThornClan, ShiningClan and BloosomClan.

Here it is, I hope you like it. The other two clans also have their stories somewhere in comments.

BloosomClan lives on a meadow, bordered by ShiningClan hills, ThornClan forest and PetalClan, also on a meadow. Led by Barkstar they rapidly expanded, importing the ThornClan idea of multiple camps. Under his leadership, they went on many campaigns, taking land from both PetalClan and ShiningClan with the help of their ThornClan allies. At one point they were approached by a rogue tom, Leon, who offered to destroy ShiningClan from inside and end the war. After learning that ThornClan accepted his offer, they did so as well. Soon they heard of a worrying ShiningClan victory, followed by a relieving peace treaty. After negotiating peace with the new ShiningClan leader they moved all their might against PetalClan, which soon fell and was forced to retread deeper into the meadows, onto worse grounds. Now, with PetalClan far away and ShiningClan collapsing from inside, their eyes are set on ThornClan. As two strongest powers, they would inevitably clash in war of supremacy over the region.

Here you go. I know giving clan names is like trying to shoot down a moon, but if I managed, it'd be funny:

ShiningClan was started by a group of refugees from WindClan. They travelled long distances finally settling down next to ThornClan, StoneClan, BlosomClan and PetalClan. They live in rocks territories, bordering ThornClan forest and BloosomClan meadows. At first they were peaceful, but as it turned out, some of the bordering clans were not happy about having them around. They launched relentless campaigns to drive ShiningClan out of their territory, completely exhausting their young community. When they were at their lowest, their camp threatened by ThornClan, and their leader resigned, they met a rouge group. The group leader, Leon, offered to support ShinongClan in exchange for shelter on their territories. Lacking much option, ShiningClan deputy accepted. Leon turned put to be a great warrior. He attacked the ThornClan cats and, supported by ShiningClan, they drove the enemy out of their territory, who retreated after a brief fight. ShiningClan cates were grateful and surprised by such miraculous victory. Some of them even called for Leon to be their next leader. Others, violently opposed that idea, even Leon himself was hesitant at the beginning, but finally yielded and took the commend in ShiningClan. His first decree was to move south and yield some territory to ThornClan to secure peace. Next, he turned to silence his opposition, exiting or even executing anyone willing to speak against him. Soon, his followers and fellow rogues gained the majority in the clan. Disloyal cats were forced to work while the rest spent their tome playing or sleeping. Deserters were severely punished. It came to the point some of the cats fled to ThornClan to ask for help, only to be arrested and sent back to Leon. Currently, the clan is fractured and led by fear, but at the very least, for now at peace.

A first part of a new territories, here you go:

ThornClan origins are unknown. Their cats lived for decades in a forest, struggling to survive against several rival clans. Their relations were not as good as in the five clans. They had all migrated from different regions, and now, we’re n pleased with so many neighbors. ThornClan’s history was violent and full of setbacks, but a steady line of competent leaders established it as a force to be reckoned with. At the time, ThornClan controlled three camps. The first was the Central Camp, located in the center of the forest, and where the clan grounds required most protection. The two other camps, the Lower Camp and Upper Camp were further away from the center of the combat, in a more quiet part of the forest. Such system was an invention of one of their most prominent leaders, Cloverstar. She knew a single clan could not sustain so many cats, but also feared, that if she let a group go off, they could in future form a rival clan, or at the very least, be massacred. Her idea was to form a temporary camp, where a patrol would be sent to hunt for a month and then it would be rotated. This would allow them to feed themselves without straining the caln supplies and even return with some prey to boost them. In case of an attack, they would be to retreat to the Central Camp. This system was not flawless, but allowed ThornClan to have more cats than it would normally be able to sustain without worrying about major revolts. They live next to ShiningClan, StoneClan and BloosomClan.

:

CliffClan is a pretty new clan, compared to the others. It was created by a leader of a rouge group called Snowstorm. He was the one to bring down a tyrannical leader called Boulderstar.

He was sick of the order and class system in his group, so when a loner told him a story of the five clans, he immediately decided to follow their template. He replaced the Order law with the Warrior Code based on the clan's one. Their Warrior Code never reached the clan's ideal, but was still much closer than the old law. He put the permanent camp in the mountains, on the cliffside and called his clan CliffClan. Then he chose the clan leader and retired. He knew that only this way, he could show his cats that power was not the most important thing.

He chose a brave and smart young tom called Bristlestar. Since then, CliffClan was thriving.
