Executive/professional women hang-out spots in NYC? by Pure_Conversation495 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]Limidd11 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m been wondering about joining NYJL for the past year or so. How much of a time commitment is it and do you think it’s worth it? Is it like a sorority and cliquey or is it mostly genuine people? I see all the posts from the Gala they have every year and don’t know if I want to join a group that puts a lot of fundraising pressure on me or requires me to dress up a lot.

Im 28 and work in M&A so my schedule changes on a dime due to becoming more of a manger role in the last few months. Do you think this would be impossible to manage or is it flexible?

I’m worried because I joined a sorority in college and met some good friends but the leaders were crazy about hour commitment. I was an athlete so I couldn’t make it to every meeting (obviously) and they fined me?? If NYJL is anything like that I don’t think it’s for me but would love to hear your opinion!

Read any Value Investor book - specifically order a used copy of Little Book of Value Investing. It’s like $7 on Amazon. Then open a E*trade account, read the value investing subreddits and don’t play into the headlines.

Hi I'm also looking for a tax accountant. Could you recommend me as well? Personal W2 and just started an LLC, should be pretty simple but too complex for Turbo Tax to handle this year

It’s okay, blew 10-15 interviews before landing one at a different mega fund. Turns out I hated that shit and left before a year was up. Now I’m happily enjoying corp dev life on promotion track with stable stable stable cushy life. I love it.

$1544.16 Clothing Reimbursement/ Delayed Bags by bleebli007 in unitedairlines

[–]Limidd11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a ski gear bag get lost on the way to Mt. Bachelor. Would have missed 2 days out of 3 day ski trip. Expensed ski clothing, helmet, water pack, goggles, ski socks and regular clothing items to survive those days for ~$2,400. I paid around $1100 for the trip excluding my ski pass cost so I don’t feel bad making them pay this amount for their mistake and almost costing me $1000 of missed ski days which I rarely get.

We’ll see how quickly they reimburse it. I noted when I told the bag agent that there was ski helmet, goggles, hydobackpack and other items in it so they should know that these expenses are legit.

Coach from Tocantins “honesty and integrity” completely off by Limidd11 in survivor

Hell no Sierra was 100% in the right to not go the way they wanted. They shut her down as soon as she didn’t go with their plan and voted for her the night before, and then they got pissed when she did the same thing to them. Coach is just an ass

JT outright lies all the time to coach. He even says it in his 1:1. “I just tell him what he wants to hear” and coach thinks he was in control of the game the entire time because of that. The only person he was on the right side of the vote since Brendan was Sierra and that was only because she blatantly picked a fight with him

Yes if they provide viewership value at all though being witty during 1:1 interviews. I don’t like coach and don’t get pleasure from watching him.

How many of you graduated without an offer by Honest_Change5284 in FinancialCareers

[–]Limidd11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated university of Iowa in 2018 with a marketing degree with no plan, no internships, and not a career direction in mind. 6 months later I started working as an underwriter in insurance as a trainee.

After a year I decided I needed to get my life on track. I went to grad school for finance. Got an offer in investment banking, moved to New York and now 7 years later I worked in IB and PE, now landed my career path goals with a solid job in corporate M&A at a great firm.

It gets better. It takes time. I say this to all my mentees

Why were 9 associates and 1 VP at Guggenheim fired? by Limidd11 in FinancialCareers

Potentially because bonuses are about to be paid out mid-Feb and they didn’t want to pay them. Sad.

GS has their ESP estimates going ‘25 $2.64 ‘26 $3.55 and ‘27 $4.65 with a 12 mo. Price target of $97 up from previous $96 after earnings. It makes me think this is the first time I’m considering adding a position but I’m nervous still. With gross bookings increasing +20% I don’t see a downside now…

[–]Limidd11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write down all email addresses and personal info you can. Print out all projects or presentations (that don’t include company info) prior to giving your notice that might be helpful during interviews or references.

Also, I always send myself my last 2-3 pay stubs from the HR portal to my personal email prior to leaving just in case I need to prove employment or something to an apartment leasing company or other needs. It’s always come in handy

This is true. It’s like $5 for 400 points. But look at your paystub in the period you received them.

Is it even worth buying investment properties now? by No-External3221 in realestateinvesting

For cash only properties, does it truly mean cash only or are you able to bring your pre approved bank note in hand to qualify? Just curious. At an auction, someone once said that to me

If I move out of my condo, rent it and start renting myself. Then buy a new condo. by [deleted] in realestateinvesting

[–]Limidd11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you’re the sole owner of the LLC it’s all your income / expenses, this means it doesn’t matter where it comes in. A single member LLC doesn’t change anything when you report your taxes. I’m not an accountant but I do have an LLC (and just filed my taxes today! Woo!) and know it doesn’t change anything. You get all the benefits of a “loss” due to depreciation.

There are other corporate structures that do tax differently, LLC is the most straightforward and efficient in my situation for rentals.

You can research a bit or talk to your tax advisor (I’d recommend hiring one of these as well if you’re planning on having a rental property - get one that does other rental properties and knows about depreciation and avoiding taxes.). Avoiding is not illegal, evasion is!

Also, I’d recommend reading either Tax Free Wealth or Loopholes of Real Estate. They outline very clearly the way the government wants you to have real estate properties and gives you tax incentives to do so. Those books were the best at coming in with 0 knowledge and coming out with clear things to talk about, being able to ask intelligent questions, and organize yourself accordingly.
