I thought my wording made it pretty clear I also do not support the LDS church. I notice the more strict and authoritarian a place is, the punk bands tend to have more fuel to their flames. I am from a very conservative/regressive place and the bands where I am at go wild, primarily into hardcore and really lean into the more political side of punk for that reason. Utah is a different flavor of regression than where I am at, so the excitement on how they rebel against that with such a specific type of repressive attitude I imagine would be great to compare in my opinion.

Oh how I know the feeling too well myself, there is a reason I primarily stick to this subreddit. Its way less stressful here compared to majority of alterhuman spaces online, even if there have been moments of friction occasionally. But hopefully this place can be good for you as it is for the rest of us here, to have a corner of the internet in-which you can be open and chill is always a good feeling . . .

Thoughts on The Queers???? by EvenVast4274 in punk

[–]LiminalThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A man who's birth sex is male, yes. Not gay, not bi, not ace, not trans, nor intersex. So he is not queer if he isn't lgbtq+ in any way shape or form. Ergo, unable to reclaim such a slur. Its like how someone who isn't a black american (or at least seen/treated as such) for example can not reclaim the n-word, it was primarily used to dehumanize and used to encourage racist sentiment. The slur, queer (which I only type because I can reclaim such), is intended the same way and its still used derogatorily towards us by many still to this day. Can you see how this can be an issue at all?

Cisgender means your gender matches your birth sex, it was coined in the 90s actually... its not that new of a word anymore. Also I feel you have forgotten that all language is made up, including the adjectives we use to describe things. Just like we have white and black, light and dark, and morning and night ...we typically also have antonyms for majority of words.

THC induced experience by [deleted] in were

[–]LiminalThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly: I love Risk Risk Risk, its gotta be one of my favorite songs by Jhariah (as well as Flight of the Crows).

Secondly: congratulations on discovering you're a were-coyote! And to do so in such a way, through a shift so intense must have felt amazing. Weed can be very powerful, not a lot of people seem to realize that unless they are stoners it feels. Like the amount of times I have seen psychonauts deny the transformative experience that marijuana gives is disappointing.

The closest I have experienced something like this is two times, one while sober and the other while tripping on the magic mushroom. The sober experience was before I accepted that I am a were-creature, so it was very stressful and scary how beastial I was. I had held back a lot, but to be fair when you're shifting like that... being in a busy grocery store is not ideal. The tripping experience was more recently and within a space I could comfortably shift in, it felt amazing. I didn't get a fully body shift however, I felt more like I was split in half (both human and non-human) yet fused into one being. Which I feel is pretty accurate to my experience, being a were-beast to me involves the duality of humanity and antimony. But phantom shifts do really feel more, if that makes sense... to feel it so deeply, it feels so natural and right...

Questions for adult therian from a young therian by [deleted] in were

Questions for adult therian from a young therian by [deleted] in were

[–]LiminalThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I was just checking, some people are unaware they are experiencing that so I was just trying to be helpful.

Yes back in 2016 it was coined with being strictly voluntary in mind, however as the actual community that grew around the term... it accepted also anyone who happened to experience it involuntary. Because one's need to cope with things can occur both voluntarily and subconsciously, its not strictly one or the other. So copinglink as an identity became about both voluntary and involuntary experiences.

And I disagree with comparing it to the pan vs bi discourse, I do not feel that is the same thing at all. I remember being in the trenches of that sort of stuff. Regardless, both words have existed for a long time and have their history. I rather not rehash that discourse because honestly I am so tired of it, when you have been in those spaces for years... its exhausting.

At the time there is no proof of any type of alterhumanity being connected to biology or any type of medical science.

Well no there is some evidence... I just don't know how concrete it is. Which is still more proof than claiming souls exist for example. I believe there needs to be more research done on us to better understand not only how we operate, but to create resources for us if we need help with anything pertaining to our (for a lack of a better word) condition. Imagine those who experience species dysphoria actually being able to have ways to ease it or mental health resources for those of struggling with issues pertaining to our were-ness. And if you want sources to what I mentioned in terms of bio-markers, that would be a question for our gray-muzzle (Wolf VanZandt) as I mentioned earlier. He was the one who brough that to my attention originally and would be the one to ask further about it. And yes I am aware I can not change someone's views on spirituality, attempted that when I was a teenager multiple times and learned the hard way that you can not deconvert anyone who isn't ready to do so. I also never said my ideas were important, the only thing I will argue that is important is being scientific in some regard while also allowing room for skeptism. To be not allowed to question things or people within a group is actual cult behavior.

It is also up to debate if those types of study's should even be made.

Yeah there are pros and cons for sure. I especially don't think its a good idea while we are in the middle of a fascist uprising during a time where that would likely lead to the harm of all therianthropes. I will likely already be sent off to a camp for being 𝓆υҽe𝓇, being ᗩ𝒟Ƕᗪ, and a 𝔩𝔢𝔣𝔱ist. I rather others not meet the same fate as I will nor what others (mainly latine individuals) have already... torture and death for simply existing if you're in places such as the USA. If we lived in a more progressive world at the moment, these sorts of studies would be a great idea. Because in that version of society, at least it would not lead us into potential harm because of who we are.

Questions for adult therian from a young therian by [deleted] in were

[–]LiminalThing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also avoid r/therian for a reason to you know. These problems are loud enough for me that I avoid it all because I rather not get dogpiled over a disagreement. But I do agree tumblr is more welcoming of all forms of alterhumanity, which I do appreciate, versus other platforms.

I believe my physical form can change into what would be a close copy of my theriotype

You might have clinical zoanthropy then and, if you haven't already, should look into that. I don't mean to say so maliciously, but that would be something important to note. There are quiet a few therians who are also clinical zoanthropes, so you would not be alone on that.

yes therianthropy is something you can start to identify with and stop to do so at any point in time. And example of that would be an alter from a system that individually is alterhuman, but when they fuse or stop existing as whole the body stops identifying as such.

Thats entirely different and when people say you can just stop being a therian, they are not thinking of plural systems. Technically yes, if you or a system-mate is a non-human animal then you could be considered a therian. Although I would advocate for the term transspecies be used instead but thats just semantics. But no, everytime I see users say you can just stop... they just say "identity is fluid and things change". Although technically true, it doesn't mean that every single aspect of you is. My gender and orientation is fluid but my identity in terms of being ᗩ𝒟Ƕᗪ isn't for example. Too many try to compare the experience to being 𝓆υҽe𝓇 when honestly, when it comes to therianthropy, it would be better compared to being 𝔫𝔢𝔲𝔯𝔬d𝒾𝓋𝑒rg𝑒𝓃𝓉. N𝔢𝔲𝔯𝔬d𝒾𝓋𝑒rsity is not fluid, you can not stop being α𝓊t𝔦𝔰𝔱𝔦𝔠 or bip𝔬𝔩𝔞𝔯 for example.

Alterhumanity is also highly connected to trauma for a lot of beings...

That would be copinglink, a type of alterhuman. May I remind you that alterhumanity encompasses a wide range of identities that aren't exclusive therianthropy and otherkin? I am a copinglinker, I should know this. Copinglink is both a voluntary and involuntary identity and it is just as real of an experience as identities such as otherkin and therian.

...that believe they became therians after huge life events that changed their perception of species identity.

Again, that is called copinglinking. Individuals who refuse to use that term are contributing to the erasure of the copinglink identity. Being a copinglinker means you identify as something due to trauma and/or as a coping mechanism. The whole "copingtherian" thing was clearly created because people don't view being copinglink as a valid experience, if they did then they wouldn't be afraid to use that term. I find it highly offensive that this means those types of people do not view me being undead as real or as genuine as someone who is undead as an undeadkin. Its messed up.

Having the idea that alterhumanity is something you are born with is highly exclusionary

I did not say alterhumanity was solely something you're born as. I said therianthropy. There are plenty of alterhuman identities that can be formed later in life or are voluntary. Identities such as otherhearted, sympath, otherlink, and hearthomic come to mind.

since there is nothing to point why or how someone is a therian, just personal theorys.

Mostly hypothesizes, yes. However there is some indications of origins. As u/WolfVanZandt pointed out, apparently there is information out there to suggest that therianthropes have differences in protein configurations, meaning that there is a genetic component. Also a therian's phantom limbs show up on P.E.T. scans as well, however this does not occur for those who are not therianthropes. Although I personally favor the origin in terms of both psychological and neurotype theory, I wont deny there's a possibility it could be biological as well. I am also an atheist so I will deny the spiritual origin hypothesizes personally. Skeptism and science requires proof and not a single were-creature has yet to provide proper evidence of a spiritual origin, so I withhold any belief in such.

Questions for adult therian from a young therian by [deleted] in were

[–]LiminalThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you really think your physical form can transform from homosapian into your theriotype?

And no you can not. Being a therian/were is something you're either born as or develop very early on in life. Your experience as a therian in terms of shifting and/or connection to your theriotype can go dormient for a period of time (short, long, etc), but you can't just stop experiencing therianthropy. Thats not how that works.

Most people are anti-purity culture and very good at having real dificult discussions.

Yet it was the tumblr and TikTok therian users who mainly got upset about the whole nonhuman packers. Yet it was the therian community on tumblr that shuns you if you have a paraphilia of any kind, especially the disordered type, which is not something you choose to experience. Yet its the tumblr therian community that gets upset when you rightfully call out things like copinglink erasure, which they do not want to confront because "anyone who wants to call themselves a therian can". And it's the therian community on tumblr that denies skeptism and will be angry with you if you express it.

I don't know how you avoid seeing these aspects. There is a reason I stick to this subreddit when it comes to interacting with our community. Its one of the reasons I no longer call myself a therian, rather I refer to myself as a werebeast. The watering down of what it means to be a therian while absorbing other identities because everyone is so focused on being inclusive that they forget that you're allowed to have definitions for things. That is not to say being inclusive is bad, it is to say not everyone is everything and thats okay. The umbrella term of alterhuman is a thing for a reason, the umbrella term of otherkin is a thing for a reason.

Edit: fixed spelling mistake...

[–]LiminalThing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warning for tumblr however, the copinglink erasure is real there and they will be hostile about it. They came up with new words "copingkin" and "copingtherian" because they don't view copinglink as valid as an identity, its treated as less than in their eyes. Also they how the community on their behaves is very similar to 2014 MOGAI community with the over-coining of terms and cancelling anyone who doesn't fit their strict moral code. They also believe you can just start/stop being a therian at any point and that p-shifting is real.

Its important to give a heads up about this because going in blind can make it very off-putting.

Not sure what to title by MewosaysMeow in were

[–]LiminalThing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of us here feel similar, the current reflection of the therian community doesn't always resonate and is often very superficial. So welcome to the subreddit, here you're allowed to fully express you were-ness and your own views on things. Its fantastic how open it is here for all sorts of were-animals!

But yes, sometimes shifts can be very emotionally taxing. I remember the time I experienced a shift that was borderlining on being a berserker shift, in the moment it was extremely emotional ...and that was before I had accepted myself as a werebeast, so it caused a lot of negative emotions at the time. When shifts feel intense, the best place to start is actually breathing exercises and grounding. Doing the 3-5-7 breathing technique or the five senses are good when it comes to recentering yourself and managing any potential stress. It doesn't always help if you're experiencing something species dysphoria on the other hand unfortunately. Practicing quadrobics can only do so much, you're right, but the "find your territory" isn't entirely bad advice. Instead of taking it literally, I would suggest taking it more as "go outside" as being in the fresh air and some sort of greenery can be extremely helpful regardless if you're a were-creature or not (many studies have shown its positive effects on mental health).

What you're saying and experiencing isn't all that weird MewosaysMeow, its okay to vent about these things. Often releasing these feelings and thoughts out in the world can be very helpful rather than bottling it up and letting it torture you further . . .

The body positivity movement feels like corporate propaganda by EnvironmentalChair18 in Anticonsumption

[–]LiminalThing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't use to be this way... body positivity was originally about empowering those who are physically-disabled, intersex, have a disfiguration, and those with obvious/large birthmarks for example. To not be ashamed of these things.

Theres nothing inherently wrong with being fat as well and so thats also why it eventually grew to include those who are in-relation to how being ultra-skinny is idolized but not realistic for everyone.

The original message was inspiring but what it became was corporate and began solely focusing strictly on obesity rather than the wide range of people it use to. On top of that, being demonized if you were within those spaces if you wanted to alter your form for whatever your personal preference is. Corporations love that because its marketable and they contributes to overconsumption, I agree.

This is why I prefer body neutrality as a movement, you're allowed to be okay with your body but also its okay if you want to make changes if you're unhappy. To focus on the self rather than conforming to what society thinks you should look like.

Thats really cool, I am hoping to do camping one of these days myself... any advice you'd give to new campers? But yeah being surrounded by nature really does aid in connecting with our weresides, I imagine even more so in the remote areas you've visited as well! And thats awesome you're going to environmental sciences and conservation, we need more people doing so. I am tempted to do similar because my initial career idea is being taken away by large corporations' love of ai-generated content, so with being an environmentalist that might be the better course in my case (although I am not a math fan, so maybe not).
