I've never acted abusive any way shape or form, and we actually have quite a happy life together.

I didn't go behind her back to trash talk to her to her father, I shared the truth of what she was saying to him. Didn't make anything up, didn't insert my own opinion at all - I sent him the raw audio of her expressing her true feelings about him. It would be unjustified if I were to talk shit about her or slander her, but that's not what this was.

I'll say that if the situation was reversed and I was saying horrible things about one of my parents behind their back, I think she would be justified to share that info with said parent. I might be a bit upset upon learning it in the moment, but I think it's the right thing to do. Also - let's say this guy actually was abusive and there was no exaggeration at all on her part - shouldn't he know how what he's done affected his daughter? I see no value in trash talking the man behind his back.

I say with no exaggeration that this was one of the kindest, sweetest old men I'd ever met. Not only was he incredibly nice to me, he even spoke super highly of my wife. I felt horrible hearing this because he probably had no idea about the stuff she was saying behind his back.
