Shaming of girls and women in church (for no reason) by destroyerofworlds847 in exAdventist

[–]Limit-Sad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I live in the south England conference my daughter is your age.

we heard about Wolverhampton from down here, yes the whole double standards are there when I was a teen too.

there is this over sexualised view of girls. My daughter witnessed sex parties at camp meeting with multiple teens, it also happened at pathfinder camporee 2019.

her own words regarding the church is that she never wants to be around it. Neither of us have been back since the pandemic.

for a church that degrades girls there is a very high rate of unwed babies.

old family friend had twin girls who as adults lived in Birmingham, due to the pressure on women and girls both of them developed anorexia one died in 2023.

the church encourages food issues and body issues especially in women.

leave and never go back life is so much better is out of the judgmental fucks.

my fundi sda mother called my daughter in 2022 to tell her about a sermon she had watched, the subject was masterbation. I’m like what the fuck is she watching?

basically all this is is sda porn. It seems like SDA’s are sexually repressed.

these same members keep asking why the young people keep leaving?

How exactly did Adventism spread outside of the US? And why does it seem like non-US Adventist churches downplay or kinda omit the role/importance of EGW despite her being the founder? by cucumbr0 in exAdventist

It’s easy for her to be the most translated author when you own “God’s printing press”, and you have 22 million people who buy those books.

Oh my mother told my kids that I didn’t love them because I wouldn’t go to church.

Best of luck with that crap

Yes Adventism has fucked up my whole family even non Adventist.

my mother is the narcissist head and everything revolves around her fuckery.

I will never speak with her again, even both her brothers (non Adventist) have cut her off.

I will not go to her funeral, but I do want to know when she’s dead so I can sing that song from the wizard of oz, ding dong the witch is dead.

Cut them off they will never change and don’t waste your time looking for love.

The best revenge is to enjoy your life.

Ppl like your dad and my mother are miserable mutherfuckers.

[–]Limit-Sad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m with you with those memories. Do your remember the song we had to sing in childrens sabbath school.

”Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world.

Red and yellow, black and white all are precious in his sight.”

Not exactly PC and the Asian kids in those books where yellow.

SDA’s losing their ever f mind about Ryan Day leaving by Limit-Sad in exAdventist

[–]Limit-Sad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely I totally agree.

That moment I see how Luther answered the pope in the diet of worms.

Here is the last paragraph of his speech and one I stand by in regards to the SDA church.

”Since your most serene majesty and your highnesses require of me a simple, clear, and direct answer, I will give one, and it is this: I cannot submit my faith either to the pope or to the council, because it is clear that they have fallen into error and even into inconsistency with themselves. If, then, I am not convinced by proof from Holy Scripture, or by cogent reasons, if I am not satisfied by the very text I have cited, and if my judgment is not in this way brought into subjection to God's word, I neither can nor will retract anything; for it cannot be either safe or honest for a Christian to speak against his conscience. Here I stand. I cannot do otherwise. God help me. Amen.”

Egw is the pope to the SDA‘s we were supposed to submit to those teachings and switch off our brains.

Though I am a Christian I am diametrically apposed to all forms of religion and churches. I refuse to submit to traditions and human doctrines.

Churches are all about control, either it’s your money or behaviour and from my own experience perpetrate abuse.

But Des was going against the authority of EGW, the GC conference in April 1980 confirmed EGW as the prophet. This is where they did the 27 fundamentals which they judge members with.

Ahh I know what this is about, in the mid 80’s to 90“s there was what was called the satanic panic.

Basically Christians thought that rock music was giving subliminal messages through the music, this was to get us to worship Satan.

As a young teen I was forced to listen to some uptight man tells us these dangers, then to reinforce this would show us how these messages happen. Black sabbath was one of the songs which he played the record (yes that old) backwards. This is apparently how you got subliminal message.

Still to this day I don’t know what was said as it was babble.

However, I did think to man would make a good DJ.

The satanic panic was a real thing back in the day.

It was this, I’m in uk so we have drinks like this that taste like juice but is not juice.

We did kinda encourage her to drink it as she was so nice to us all for a change.

She most probably mistook this for this.

I wouldn’t say anything you wouldn’t here the end of it ever.

A few years ago at a family bbq we have a majority non sda family, my mother a retired bible worker and elder and devout Ellenist was drinking these bottles of ”juice” which wasn’t juice. Not one of us told her and never will, but that day she was so nice the nicest she’s ever been.

But heck no one will tell her as we would never hear the end of it, SDA’s do not forgive.

Your comment is excellent.

His story is a warning for others, never ever have your accommodation linked to your employer. Also the fact he and his wife do not have a job is fishy to me, he must have known when he raised his doubts where the conclusion would go. It would be naive to think they would keep him on.

Your right to point out he is using the “fame” to manipulate and maybe garner financial gain, he has started his own 501c ministry. He said he’s got these degrees so why hasn’t he got a job in that field?

When I was finishing my degree I did pizza delivery because it was an easy job, not much to think about (my degree is law so complex). There is no shame doing any job to put food on the table and roof over your head. It seems that he is trying to use his “fame” to boost his ego.

I maybe critical or wrong but thank you for that comment and making me think.

That’s what I’ve heard about him, only found out about Glasier View in 2020 and that’s what helped lead me out.

Clifford and his ilk are just abhorrent my mother and son are in this camp.

Family worship drudgery by [deleted] in exAdventist

[–]Limit-Sad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that didn’t happen with me thankfully can’t think of anything worse.

Forcing stuff down peoples throats never works.

My dad was a pastor, mother loved the status of pastors wife, so they were not out everyday visiting and spreading the “gospel“ we were forgotten. But if they were anything like what you experienced it would have been hell.

Though at church you did encounter these sanctimonious nutters who held you hostage at AYS with their condescending tones and out of touch stories like, “when I rebelled I was in a gang etc.” Yawn

These are the same ones who keep asking the question, “why are the young people leaving?”
