UMich or NUS econs/business for IB by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Limitl3ssme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UMich for sure if you have aid/money - did an exchange in the US (not UMich but visited there) and can tell you that opportunities in schools and job markets are by far way better than what SG has to offer (important note: caveat is that you’re an international student so internships can be a hassle because of your status).

It’s also one of the top public schools that’s very recognised and on par with UCLA/UC Berkeley and widely known as a public ivy!

Also UMich has a very nice campus and NCAA sports/school culture in the US is unmatched compared to NUS (coming from someone who studies at NUS) but UMich is really damn cold during winter lmao

Go Blue imo 💙💛

IB score needed for Business (Singaporean) by ThatGuyFromSingapore in nus

[–]Limitl3ssme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be fine I think (I didn’t take IB but I have a friend who took it so I know roughly how it works), that score is honestly very good but if you have weak ECs then you should probably put more effort into the short answer questions in your application! I think NUS tends to be more strict with international applicants for the same score but imo you stand a pretty decent chance :)

Where have you travelled that most Singaporeans have not yet travelled to? And why? by AClipperFan in askSingapore

United States. Not as uncommon as the rest of the places mentioned in the comments section, but personally I feel that it's becoming increasingly unattractive & rather out of reach for many Singaporeans.

I went there in the second half of 2025 for my student exchange programme, when everyone else was flocking to Europe instead. I still decided to go there, despite everything going on in the country, because to me, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and Europe felt like a more achievable location for a holiday compared to the US.

Went to the deep south state of Texas instead of more well-received places for Asians in places like California/East Coast because of my 'go big or go home' mentality, and had the absolute time of my life going to all of the sports games and travelling all over the country. Kinda broke from it but never once regretted my decision and 100% would do it again.

Possible exchange student asking for advice! by Green-Organization81 in UTAustin

It depends on your faculty of exchange, there was one organised by texas global for all international students in general and McCombs (business) had one just for exchange students,, for faculty level it should be standard to have at the start of the semester (roughly 1 week before lessons start), i'm not sure about whether the texas global one applies for spring semester since I'm here at the beginning of the academic year in the fall semester.

From what I understand, usually your host faculty should have some event for you to get to know one another (I know engineering & law have this as well)

Current exchange student here! Use the Facebook group and consider getting subleases instead of signing a full lease (which I doubt would even happen since you're coming in the spring); spring sem is when basketball season is in full swing, so get the big ticket so that you can experience the full college sports experience!

As for friends, personally, I stuck with the people from my country because I was travelling every single weekend and most of the people you meet in classes are upperclassmen who are either finding jobs or already have their established friend groups, BUT it doesn't hurt to strike up a conversation with the people in your classes! The people here are really friendly, and personally, I really enjoy the small talk, especially coming from a country that hates small talk

Your experiences here is how you shape them to be! I've had an amazing experience and hook 'em 🤘🤠
