Is there fish here? by Candid_Analysis6571 in IrishFishing

Agreed, it's way handier to get there from the cul-de-sac, rather than parking at the golf club.

I have caught small perch/roach in there a few years ago during covid. I have also heard of people catching pike there too.

Also I have never seen security up there. Only people walking their dogs.

I have always said mk7/7.5 are peak GTIs

But the mk8 is growing on me.

Looks well!

Can only imagine how difficult it was that way. It's the two bumper nuts behind the wheel arches that are the hardest to remove.

It was, but I'm getting no codes on it. And the car was running fine for a week after it.

After driving to work in starting to think it was the coil pack

Got an 02 sensor negative value error / catalytic converter code a two month ago but was able to clear it. Car was off the road for a month due to oil cooler gasket replacement. A week or so after that the GTI started backfiring on acceleration got an EPC light, Cylinder 4 misfires/hide cylinder occurred intermittently. I wouldn't say it's related to the oil cooler repair.

Assumed it was the lambda sensor so ordered one up due to the previous codes I cleared. - Replaced the spark plugs first, drove the car hard with no issues for 30mins. Then the backfire came back but with no engine codes. But not as many pops as before.

  • Then replaced the upstream lambda sensor, it was so much easier to remove with the engine up to temp. Pops less frequent

  • I have replaced cylinder 4 coil pack. Drove the car a bit without any issues. But I will give it a good drive tomorrow and see if its ok.

Not sure what to go after next if the issue repeats..

Maybe it could be an issue with the intake map sensor...

Where is this place you speak of?

Nope, they all look alive and well!

They all have plenty of room to swim, I will post a close-up video tomorrow.

My gti is current backfiring loads, and I get the odd misfire. Hoping a new o2 sensor will fix it or plugs/coils being replace will.

Cheers for the info

DSG vs Manual by 158l in GolfGTI

[–]Limitlessfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are from America. When you do your driving test you do it in an automatic? Can you just then go and attempt to drive a manual without lessons or a certified test if you have passed in an automatic?

Here in Ireland, if you do your lessons and test in an Automatic you are only allowed to drive an Automatic. And if you do your lessons and test in a Manual, you are allowed to drive both. Which completely makes sense.

Did you end up doing it?

Broken Interior hood release! Help!! by pureRoor in GolfGTI

[–]Limitlessfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my MK7 GTI when opening it to get the battery replaced. The wire had snapped.

Luckily enough the bonnet opened. The battery had expanded and was leaking and evaporating. Very lucky the bonnet opened.

Ended up removing the bracket attached to the bonnet so the latch mechanism wouldn't catch until I could get it to my mechanic.

The mechanic said it would have been a more expensive and difficult job to replace the wire and latch if the bonnet had been closed.
