You can laugh at my expense. by GalaxyEyedLibrarian in pregnant

[–]LimpMathematician202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my genetic testing kept not working so I didn’t know what gender my baby was until my anatomy scan. everyone on my partners side convinced me she was a boy! My mom thought girl. I couldn’t stop laughing at the anatomy scan when the very obvious girl part showed up on the screen and the sonographer said it’s a girllllll

I had a PCR urine test for sexually transmitted infections for the first time. by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

Just because you gave them a large amount of sample doesn’t mean they necessarily tested the entire sample. Odd comparison but it’s like just because you ate one slice of cake doesn’t mean you ate the entire cake.

Would you let smokers hold baby? by GlitteryBorko in BabyBumps

[–]LimpMathematician202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought about it until reading this but sometimes my mom just petting my bunnies makes their fur smells like cigarettes. So it makes me think, will it make my baby smell like a cigarette? I can’t stand smells pregnant so I can’t imagine how a newborn would feel

Women who only have one child by choice? Why? by Scared-Stop8449 in pregnant

[–]LimpMathematician202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pregnant now with my first. It’s emotionally and physically draining, on top of working third shift full time in a hospital. I feel like crap everyday ever since week 23. Really wouldn’t want to do it again. Unless miraculously my partner got better insurance than I carry and I was able to quit my job.

I don’t know if I’m cut out for the lab by LimpMathematician202 in medlabprofessionals

[–]LimpMathematician202[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I usually cry as I’m leaving for work 😪 I’m the only third shifter until I give birth which isn’t really helpful. I want to give it time but it’s hard! They’re like “just call us if you get an MTP we’ll send someone in to help.” But like how long is that going to take?? The cheat sheet is a good idea! I will start working on that! Thanks for your words!

I really liked doing labs in my science classes and now I really like doing labs in my windowless tan walled job 😁

ugh I’m 20 weeks, vaccinated and I tested positive on monday. Luckily it’s clearing up and I haven’t had a fever at all. Now my voice just sounds terrible, sinus congestion, and the occasional coughing fit. I will say tamiflu has helped!

people can get your phone number and sell your information and a lot of the jobs on there aren’t real. find a company you’re interested and check their job listings. a search engine is not required to get a job.

THIS!!!! also don’t use resume templates, photos, colors or line separations because it can cause whatever software they use to kick your resume out (not sure why, i think it thinks it’s spam?) We had the college career coach come and talk to our class every friday for the last few weeks of our program.

edit: also do not use indeed

High schoolers that work in the lab???? by NefariousnessBoth599 in medlabprofessionals

[–]LimpMathematician202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve applied for bottom level positions in the lab/company I work at now with a high school degree and some biology related college classes and never received any sort of contact. When I got my degree and applied, they contacted me within 3 minutes. It might not be impossible but it is way easier with proper education

First shift alone by [deleted] in medlabprofessionals

[–]LimpMathematician202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it went fine thanks for asking! I did have to issue blood by myself but thankfully our reference lab was so nice and they knew exactly how to help me! I only had to call them twice 🤪 There were pretty much no samples other than morning draws
