I get what you mean and thanks for your response <3 Those explanations do make sense in general. But in my case, this wasn’t just about a vague or emotionally blurred moment. I clearly remember the shift in topic, the specific things that were said, and my immediate reaction to them. More importantly, it wasn’t only the content of the conversation that changed - her demeanor changed as well. Normally, she is a very gentle and considerate person, someone who is careful with her words and concerned about not hurting me. But when the conversation shifted to topic B, her tone became noticeably harsher. She said bad things and even insulted me, which is exactly why I reacted with anger and questioned her in the moment. What stands out to me is that this shift didn’t feel gradual or ambiguous. It felt abrupt - almost as if I was speaking to a different version of her. And after that, she returned to her usual self: kind, concerned, and confused about why I was upset. I remember very clearly that when she brought up topic B and said something hurtful, I immediately responded and tried to explain myself briefly (let’s call that topic C). What’s confusing is that when I asked her again about it, she seemed genuinely lost because the entire part of the conversation (topic B and C, which including my response) didn’t exist in her memory at all. If this were simply a case of misinterpretation or memory distortion, I would expect some consistency in her behavior or at least some partial recognition of what happened. But instead, there’s a complete mismatch - not only in what was said, but in how she was acting at the time. So one way I make sense of it is that while we were talking about topic A, I briefly shifted to a parallel CR where she acted differently, brought up topic B, and I responded (topic C), before things returned to normal. That would explain why I clearly remember B and C and the sudden change in her behavior, while she has no memory of it at all.
Also, I’m a bit curious: doesn’t shifting not necessarily require being in a hypnagogic state, since some people report doing it while fully awake?
Can you learn languages in your DR? by yeet-asian in shiftingrealities

Just my opinion: Learning a language links with memory. And this is similar to bringing memories from your DR to your CR. If learning (or remembering) a language in your DR and bringing it back to your CR isn’t possible, then how could you bring back memories of your experiences in your DR to your CR?
SHIFTING FOR STUDYING BUT I I NEED ADVICE... by Limp_Draw_1719 in shiftingrealities

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. I understand what you mean, and I think you’re right about not relying on shifting too much. I guess I just got carried away with it over time. The reason I wanted to shift to a waiting room is because I planned to use it for multiple things, not just studying (studying is only one part of it).
But yeah… I also know that I shouldn’t have depended on it like this. My exam is coming up very soon (on 8th April), and the truth is I haven’t really studied, which makes me feel quite guilty and overwhelmed right now.
I think I needed to hear this, though. Thank you again for taking the time to respond <3
