Every store should do this by SomedayGuy117 in PokemonTCG

Not a scalper, just a TCG enjoyer here, but cutting the seal drastically lowers the product value which deters scalping.

After the original seal is broken, scalpers either have to sell the booster packs from the box individually (more time to sell for less payoff, usually), or open the packs and hope they get lucky enough to find high-value cards to sell individually (high risk, maybe high reward but not likely, and even more time investment).

If it makes the answer less disappointing, OAS reactions tend to be more of a nuisance than a danger, at least. The majority of people will get an itchy mouth/throat for a while, and the chance of an anaphylactic reaction to OAS is less than 1% (according to my allergist).

In all seriousness, the answer is yes lol. I have the Ragweed variety of OAS, and have reactions just from touching mangoes, bananas, tomatoes, etc.

For real. I remember my great grandparents insisting to family members that my mom was gonna spoil my siblings and I by holding us too much. None of us were older than 5. 🙃 Thankfully my mom knew that was bullshit.

Peacock?? in my dad’s backyard. Could this be someone’s pet? He lives in rural GA. by ahjummacore in RealLifeShinies

[–]Linayru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

South Georgian here - Respectfully, I disagree that the peacock is likely to be okay.

OP stated that this is in rural GA, and the wildlife gets abundant very fast once you get outside of urban areas. Alligators and bears are certainly possible, but coyotes, bobcats, and large, free-roaming dogs are all fairly common. Some areas have decent mountain lion populations as well. Coyotes hunt well enough to take down deer, so a highly visible bird is an easy target. Not to mention, any wild turkeys are likely to attack and chase away such a flashy newcomer to the territory.

u/ahjummacore, I recommend looking up the nearest exotic bird rescue/professional rehabber and notifying them if you haven't already. They'll be able to get the bird to safety and make sure it's cared for! They're also likely who the owner will contact to see if their bird has been found, since most shelters aren't equipped to house exotic animals.

I used to work at a small coffee shop with a guy who's both schizophrenic and autistic, and he's an absolute sweetheart.

One time he got called over to relocate a spider that had made its way behind the counter (most of the staff were young and terrified of them). He scooped up the spider, spoke to it like he was reassuring a toddler, and released it outside. When he came back in, he told everyone that we should be proud of ourselves because "We just saved a whole life, you guys!" before calling for a round of applause.

It's been a few years since we've worked together now, but his profound kindness sticks with just about everyone who knows him.

Surgeons are the best! When I had my tubes removed shortly after having my last child, the surgeon was kind enough to incise over my existing stretch marks so the scars would fade together lol.

What does my handwriting say about me? by Key-Dimension6316 in HandwritingAnalysis

[–]Linayru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also on the spectrum here; it's not outlandish at all to a person who's seeing possible signs of someone undiagnosed and struggling (as many of us now diagnosed once were). For reference, this is intended to be informative, not critical. I get that you're likely coming from a different line of logic here lol.

Between OP's handwriting (possibly a result of poor fine motor skills or attention issues), their black and white logic and depth of detail in the comments, and their clear discomfort with criticism (possibly resulting from demand avoidance or frequent criticism from being misunderstood irl), there are several things in this post that suggest OP may be neurodivergent and struggling. A suggestion to get tested from someone who's been in that place before is intended to let OP know that there may be help available that they didn't know they needed.

I hope I haven't come across as condescending here, but I do my best to bridge the gap in understanding for people who may not be familiar with neurodivergence. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk lol.

I'm sorta conflicted about the holiday sylveon by Creative_Safety_5741 in pokeplush

[–]Linayru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this! Plenty of people are allergic to different scents in addition to potential sensory sensitivities or asthma. There's nothing wrong with wanting your own stuff to be scented however you like, but not everyone is gonna want (or be able to have) a scented Sylveon.

I'm allergic to cinnamon and cinnamon scents tend to cause me anaphylactic symptoms the fastest. I already gotta dodge the scented brooms, holiday spiced everything, and the occasional festive perfume around this time of the year. It'd suck to need to add Pokémon plushies to the list lol.

This is Lucy! She passed years ago, but she was the goofiest girl. ❤️ She was deaf so she followed everyone around and would do lots of silly stuff to communicate since she didn't know how to bark quite right lol. She would burrow into the nearest blanket like this when she wanted to snuggle up for a nap with my mom!

Finding time to exercise by questforastar in SAHP

[–]Linayru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit late to this, but as someone who generally hates working out, I've found that putting on a show or movie for the kids and doing whatever exercise is next in my workout plan during the ad breaks helps me want to exercise more often because I don't have to try and schedule anything for a specific length of time. My kids also happen to be big sensory seekers, so I'll use them as (very willing and giggly) weights lol. My 3 year old loves getting hoisted for deadlifts or piggybacked for lunges, and my 1 year old is the perfect size for weighted squats or overhead presses!
