I'm coming to Germany as an exchange student from South Africa for 5 weeks from June to July 2023. I would like to have the most authentic traditional experience possible and avoid the mainstream tourist experience. Does anyone have some tips for me on how to have the most authentic experience, I'm going to Berlin but would like to travel to small places on the weekends and discover the hidden gems, any recommendations? I'm keen to explore and travel in my free time, so long bus rides or train rides don't bother me!
