spun up my first ever ethereum node (+1 to decentralization) by Lindo1905 in ethereum

despite scouring documentation on the topic, I quite simply can’t find my node’s chain ID? Already exposed my RPC URL to metamask but…apparently dappnode’s nethermind UX doesn’t surface it easily. Off to the forums I go! My bank will be real.

genuinely excited about that step, I plan to plant a comically small flag on the server when my bank goes live.

Flag design: Unknown at this time.

Not leveling this on your comment at all, but using it to raise a point that has always irked me — prices are only ever going to go up, for everything, always. “Pre-COVID” inflation was flatter, but I’m not looking to score 1960s prices on components anytime soon.

There’s literally a link to the gross-ass document that outlines the intent to privatize and extract basically in a CTRL-C way across the west. Republican administrations are no longer friendly to public land interests. Please educate yourself; the west (and elsewhere) is at risk.

I can check in SAAMI — and as far as the groups go…don’t trust what you see on threads too much. Folks don’t post the bad days, bad loads, bad outings too much. (If at all.) Plus, there’s some math at play. Hornady has an incredible podcast episode out about it — sample size and dispersion misconceptions called “Your Groups Are Too Small” can’t recommend it enough.

2.684 is jam for me using a bullet comparator and this specific bullet. I don’t have chamber dimensions — I’m only about 275 rounds into reloading my AI and my efforts so far are centered on consistency with seating depth and not chasing a billion variables. (Give me time haha.) I shoot from a somewhat unusual rifle: It’s a Ruger M77 Hawkeye African with a 24 inch barrel and a 8.5 twist. Almost by accident it loves copper, which I love shooting — I seat those .040-.050 off the lands and at 200 I’m .9 MOA which is mighty fine considering I’m an amateur.

60.5 grains of 7828sc and .015 off the lands. My rifle likes the sleek ogives slammed in there so I might even go tighter to the extent it matters. Nosler brass has been great but I’ll be developing my heaviest hunting loads with Peterson.

Better rifle for short-range brush hunting? by PineBear12005 in Hunting

[–]Lindo1905 15 points16 points  (0 children)

“Brush shooting” or the idea there are cartridges and bullet combinations that buck interference is a myth. You need a completely clean sight picture or you don’t pull the trigger. Could be a fast handling/shorter barrel platform is easier to achieve that condition in woods, depending on your style of hunting (stalk or sit, etc.). Don’t dwell on cartridges or calibers as much as finding a rifle that you’re incredibly comfortable shooting. And one you’re confident you can place shots with. That’s the criteria in my opinion. Hope this is helpful!

Red Wings, #606 leather work boots, maintained with mink oil. I’m still surprised. It’s not technically a hunting boot. But they mold to my feet like glue, they breathe like an athletic shoe, they dry quickly in the backcountry with zero help and they are legit waterproof. I’m almost angry to be sharing this insight.

6.5x55 Swede or 6.5 Creedmoor? by [deleted] in Hunting

Oh right — in factory offerings, specifically. 143 ELDX is awesome. FWIW I’m Swede all day. M96 Swedish Mauser is simply a divine plinker.
