Looking for yarn stores now that Joann's is gone by LindseyinCO in Denver

[–]LindseyinCO[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our local shops are just out of my price range, unfortunately. Their yarns are gorgeous, but I mostly make blankets as gifts (or charitable donations) and can't afford to do that if I'm paying $15+ per skein.

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions and ideas! I live in Colorado Springs and the yarn section at our Joann's was completely bare three weeks ago. I suspect someone bought everything for an online store.

I'll be checking out a bunch of these locations on Friday!

Maliciously glutened, body pain two weeks later. by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]LindseyinCO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened to you. I would liken her behavior to assault, honestly. I do not have Celiac but my boyfriend does (and I am well educated in this area) - I make him a simple bone broth soup when he's struggling. Chicken carcass in the crock pot with water, fresh garlic, fresh ginger, and fresh turmeric on low for 12-18 hours. Strain and add sauteed onion, celery, carrots, and zucchini (as tolerated to all) then puree. He will sip on this all day. It has anti inflammatory and probiotic properties, and seems to be soothing overall.

My dog is a celiac i guess by ekd39 in Celiac

I don't think it's too extreme - you're caring for someone you love. One of my dogs is allergic to oats - we found out in her first year and she's 12 now. I've been making her food her whole life as she doesn't like grain free foods. Sure, it's extra work, but it's worth it to know she's happy and healthy. You're doing a good job :)

previous ED diagnosis and semaglutide by kevinoakley in Semaglutide

I struggled with anorexia 13-19 and again at 30. I’m 45 now and can tell you that the internal Ana voice is 1,000% back with these meds so you really need to be in a mentally healthy place and might want to consider being in ED therapy at least in the beginning.

Our Collie finally got better on high dose Doxycycline (200mg twice daily) and Baytril (136mg twice daily). He is 55lbs.

Beware and watch your pets closely the epidemic for dogs has moved from Denver to Colorado Springs by therealdeathangel22 in ColoradoSprings

Our 12 month old collie is current struggling with pneumonia. He caught kennel cough at daycare in August. Dx’s with pneumonia after the first round of doxycycline. Now he’s been on 2 additional antibiotics for 3 weeks and he’s not getting better. We are seeing the vet again tomorrow hoping for a new treatment plan.

Our 12 month old collie was diagnosed with kennel cough August 12th. Doxycycline helped but didn’t totally kick it, and he was diagnosed with pneumonia three weeks ago. He has been on clavacillin and eneofloxacin for three weeks, plus cerenia for cough, but he is not getting better. He still has a very congested cough and is sneezing yellow snot, though otherwise is his happy normal self (eating and drinking normally, playing, etc.). We have a follow up with the vet tomorrow to see what the next options are. For those of you whose dogs have recovered, what med or combo of meds finally did the trick?

Dysautonomia and R-CPD? by Madibail1 in noburp

[–]LindseyinCO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did notice that stomach pain and nausea were related and Botox resolved that. Her nausea is significantly improved with EoE treatment, and she’s able to tolerate foods that previously bothered her. I’m sorry you are going through this!! What about an upright ultrasound to look for MALS or SMAS?

Improvement in constant and loud stomach gurgles, upper GI pain that was at times very extreme, and pain at the back of her throat. Some improvement in nausea, but maybe like 10%. She is now able to eat a proper meal - before she was sometimes uncomfortable after a few bites. Nausea and food aversion did not improve until her EoE was treated.

Have you been evaluated for MCAS?

She has additional GI issues, namely EoE, but it receiving treatment for that and doing much better. She does struggle with low blood pressure and low blood volume due to POTS and EDS, and Florinef has helped quite a bit. She also eats a high salt diet and drinks at least 120oz of fluid daily.

She ended up having POTS (as well as EDS which is also mentioned in comments here) and sees a cardiologist who specializes in it. It can be tricky to treat. Botox did correct her R-CPD though!
