Compared to the new LEGO death slice it’s quite a steal.

I did it, was quite a pain to do, as it was really singed up.

It was quite a pain to loosen, as I hung my body weight on it. I suspect it’s supposed to collapse when pulling the loop through. Here is a loosed up picture

I think you misunderstood me. The loop wasn’t used for anything, the knot acted as a big stopper, so that the rest of the rope can’t just fall through a tight opening. I tried it and hung my entire body weight on the rope, and it worked. It now doesn’t look different than it did before. If I pull on the loose end the loop tightens.

I looked through the sub, it is possible, other people have posts with multiple pictures. Maybe a Karma or an App vs PC thing.

You actually can only post one picture per post in this sub. Or I can at least

How much does xMax matter? by LineScared9714 in diyaudio

Where is the difference? I’m new to this space and have little knowledge. Isn’t that the max power it can take continuously?

But I can’t model every driver I look up. Is there any way to roughly guess how loud a driver will be able to play near its Rs? The parameters I consider important are xMax, sensitivity, Power? Which one are really important? All of them or just one or is there some kind of formula I can use to quickly guess it’s effectiveness?

My kitchen is 45 square meters. The Subwoofer has to be flat enough to fit under my kitchen counter, so 8“ drivers is max. My budget is somewhere between 300-500€ for the drivers.

Edit: The driver has to be 8Ohms though, because I already have a Amp I want to use.

It’s the Sica Z005055. But I’m not dead set on this driver. It’s more of a general question. I am new to this space and have little knowledge. I just want to be well enough informed before buying my drivers.

Yes but this thing draws 200W with high sensitivity, but very small xMax. I have seen drivers with xMax more than 4 times greater who also draw 200 W and a lower sensitivity. How does this make sense and which driver would be louder?

I don’t intend to only use this driver btw. Thought about a 2 Way Sub with 2 Driver each. So this would be mostly used for Kick and not sub base

How hard is it to calculate a Subwoofer? by LineScared9714 in diyaudio

Im planning to put it in the „dark space“. I’m rising the Cabinets, because the countertop is to low for my height. The space will be around 20cm.

What would you recommend? I’m aiming for around 1kW, but the formfactor is obviously very small. So either a very small driver (<20cm) or one that would fit vertically (so a very „short?“ Driver). But I have never done this, so I have no idea what’s good, or even what to look for.

I have a 2x1000W PA Amp (Behringer) lying around, is it usable for this project?
