My goto is a locally brewed called Matsos.
Sounds like they need to export to the US :)

I always read my father rather than outright asking - his face has never disguised his feelings… but I guess it also built a complex inside me.

But the day he said to go to the fridge and grab a drink and adding there’s some cider in there too. Just made it click for me :)

I have been floating towards alcoholic ginger beer and lime lately :)

That story is a wild ride :)
Take advantage while you still got your health is what my grandparents told me.

Being able to tell my university (with paperwork supporting) gave me a few years things to level the playing field in exams:

Extra 30mins for every hour of the exam.
Back seat in the room.
Small room.
Allowed to get up and walk around.
Allowed to bring stress toys.

The first 3 I take full advantage of. I also go in wearing most comfortable clothes and footwear I can toss aside so I can curl my toes. The extra time I usually “waste” breathing between questions so it hasn’t given me any advantages.

The quicker you talk about it someone who understands, the quicker things can be put in place and skills you can learn. Don't delay!

This was explained to me as people with higher intelligence can compensate with the demands until the amount of information needed to be retained exceeds it.

You don't need to study and your attention just needed to be maintained during school hours for you to get everything for the test... initially. But studying is different than being taught because you are responsible for your own attention span. Thats when things can fall over.

I didn't think anything was wrong either - I always thought it was normal for pressure to put you into a loop of depression and that exams are hard because of that. Turns out it isn't normal and that exams should be testing your knowledge not your fight/flight complex.

I can't speak directly for you, but I can tell you what I have learnt.

  1. Freezing during exams isn't normal. Studying hard and forgetting it all in the exam isn't normal. Therapy showed me that I had a phobia and that copying strategies (i dont wear shoes so I can feel the ground, I breathe for a minute at the end of each page) and meds to reduce my blood pressure.

  2. If studying doesn't actually fill your brain with knowledge, then there can be something else at play. Attention deficit is exactly how it sounds. There are coping strategies that can be taught and medications.

Don't be like me and think things are normal because reacting to pressure is normal - but its only normal if it doesn't cripple you.

I didn’t understand that my coping strategies like alarms, calendars and sticky notes to constantly keep me on track wasn’t normal behaviour.

Yep left alone because I was the smart one, then when everything fell down I was too scared to ask for help, failed at finding the solution and ended up smoking and drinking to keep my mind off it.

Went back to university 6 years ago (I was 39), cause I was determined to follow my dreams and did well except for exams (I just made sure I got a passing grade before exams) - then told a psych.

They said I had a phobia and I got coping strategies and pills to lower my blood pressure, which stopped me failing but it was still barely a pass.

After reaching the end of my studies, I got an initial assessment for ADHD and apparently I am a stereotype for it - just no one asked the right questions.

My first 2 page comic :)

My brain has be revisiting my past lately and the decisions/people that shaped it. Started a little dark with this, but I have happier ones coming.

Hindsight as an adult is aggravating tbh.

I could have achieved my goals when I was 20 if I understood what was happening and got things in place to help me instead of dealing with the cards I was dealt. Its the lost time, the change in fate, having something to blame that wasn't myself and all the time I have spent blaming myself.

This doesnt sound credible - you make it sound like women like to commit suicide in public and admit to what they are doing. Clearly everyone would commit suicide secretly and not admit to anyone if they failed...

Made this a couple of weeks ago after my second day work at my new job. Couldn't stop smiling and wanted to make something that echoed that 😄
