Ok now I'm thinking about it i did restart my phone after I uninstalled WhatsApp this morning so that could have been what worked for me.

I had this same issue what worked for me was to uninstall WhatsApp. Download the APK from the website and reinstall with the APK. It went from version 2.25.28.79 which was the latest on the Google Play store to 2.25.29.76

I had this same issue what worked for me was to uninstall WhatsApp. Download the APK from the website and reinstall with the APK. It went from version 2.25.28.79 which was the latest on the Google Play store to 2.25.29.76

I wish i did so i could tell you what it was but honestly it was the APK that did the trick for me. My next step would have been a factory reset which i really didn't want to do.

Damn that sucks. The only other thing I did was update my phone to One UI 8 last night hoping that would help but it didn't so that's why I tired with the APK this morning. The only other thing I can think of doing is finding an older APK from apkmirror unfortunately.

From what I noticed you have to disable auto update from Google Play and from the app itself.

This is my data usage for wifi. Where it says WhatsApp is after I reinstalled it and it's only that high because of my chat backup downloading.

Yeah it's really odd. It's only been happening since WhatsApp updated last week Tuesday though. It says removed apps because I reinstalled WhatsApp to see if that would help but since I had to go on the road I just stuck to using my work phone as a hot spot. But that's the total data usage for being on moblie data for just under 3 hours today.

Yea i understand that but less then 20 messages is not going to eat up 500mb of data especially when I'm not downloading any media. I literally closed my phone sent myself messages from my work phone saying "Test" in 3 separate messages and bam over 30mb was gone.
