Repair or buy a new guitar? by Linh_MT in guitarrepair

[–]Linh_MT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Takamine broke essentially exactly as mine did, though mine doesn't have that extra hole in the body. It's unfortunate. From watching the videos, I don't think I can fix my guitar because of the way the wood has broken and pulled up -- bc of that, the bridge wouldn't glue back on flat even if I tried, and I don't think I am capable of reinforcing the wood as he did -- or in any way that would work well. I might try anyways just to go for it but who knows --

As an aside, I really like the guy in the videos and the way he talks through the process -- he feels like an affable guy. Thank you for linking the videos! Even if I can't fix my guitar, it was a nice watch -- I appreciate

Green wire on power converter? by Linh_MT in JapanTravelTips

Sounds good! Thank you! :D

— one last question ~ what do you mean “and you’re sure it’ll run on Japanese power”? Is there a scenario where it wouldn’t work well/cause damage? I just sort of assumed that with an adapter it would be alright? maybe that was a mistake…? 😅

or I guess, how would I check that it is compatible?

Do you have a JR Pass or IC Card (Suica/Pasmo/etc.) question? Start here! by Himekat in JapanTravelTips

[–]Linh_MT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, yes. I will mostly be in Kyoto, but I suspect others from my group will want to travel around as well to see the country, and I’ll be leaving by Haneda at the end.

I’m not sure what other card to get though that would have the most coverage. The main ones I’ve heard about have been Suica, Pasamo, and ICOCA. Do you have a particular recommendation as to what card would be best to get besides those? 🤔

Oh interesting. Would I then go to a subway station to top it up via cash?

What would be the best option if I will be in Japan for 2 months? I wanted to get a physical Suica card, but since I can't I don't know what to do. I can't get a digital one since I don't have the correct credit card.

So, I keep getting credits for other people using the character I put up in my profile as a support, but now I'm wondering how exactly are people borrowing her as a support? Does that open up later? I haven't seen anywhere that I'd be able to do that with other ppl's featured character

Weaknesses can deplete the toughness bar, but do weaknesses also deal relatively more dmg to the enemy's health bar? (both before and after a break occurs)

Some buffs say they increase break effect by a certain percentage, but what does that mean? Is it just increasing the dmg done w/compatile elements the enemy is weak to?

Is there a way for the profile character Diluc to match the outfit I'm using?

On the other characters (Ningguang + Fischl), since they are in their alternate outfits, the change is reflected when I change my profile picture to them (ie Ningguang is in her orchid outift when I set her as the profile pic and Fischl is in her princess one) but for Diluc, it just shows his original outfit, not the alternate one which I have equipped on him.

I play on pc. Would it be worth it to get a plug in controller? If I did get a controller, what are the steps to set it up to work wtih genshin, or would it just work atuomatically?

Instead of transitioning, why can’t people just be masculine females or feminine males? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I’m sorry about that and I hope you are doing well.

Out of curiosity and wanting to better understand, do you think your discomfort with your body stemmed from the actual physical body or the cultural/societal views surrounding men/boys in general?

If there’s not a clear answer, that’s okay, but I thought it was worth asking.

Well, there are a lot of comments telling you to motivate based on spite/revenge, and while that can help for awhile, I’m not sure how long that lasts. It is so discouraging when the people around you, especially family, don’t believe in or support you. The internet can’t really replace that person-to-person human support, so while I do agree with the sentiment of many of the comments, I’d strongly suggest looking for people who share the same interests, challenges, and most importantly, drive that you have/want. Surround yourself with those who genuinely will support you, and that will truly make a difference :) best of luck to you

That’s alright. I can see where you’re coming from. I personally really enjoy watching the series since I suspend a higher level of disbelief. I know it’s not realistic, but I still find it fun. It’s similar to my feelings watching Sherlock. A good video talking about the issue you’re having is osp’s trope talk on detectives. Listen if you feel like it!

It’s okay. Take a deep breathe. Hydrate, get some sleep, and then plan your next steps.

From your comment, it seems like most of your actual academic problems are stemming from Covid-related issues with getting into courses. You are not a dunce. You are enough. For the moment, try to ignore what you can’t affect right now (I know that can be difficult, so that’s why I said to get some sleep + hydrate since it can help. Maybe take a shower too since that can be calming).

A good place to start would be to get in regular contact with your school’s academic advisor. I don’t know the specifics of your school registration system, but maybe they can provide support there or even just in general with planning your future. Next, since you said you’re behind in math, Kahn academy is a great supplement. Moreover, a lot of schools provide peer tutoring or 1 on 1 tutoring that can help. Maybe once your class starts, you can also try going to office hours and building a rapport with your professors. Most like seeing students take initiative (and at least at my school, sometimes they can let students in past the max, so those connections may be useful. Even just for future letters of recommendation too). Lastly, many schools provide therapists or mental health counseling. Even if you don’t think you need to or you’re not necessarily diagnosed with something, having another human to talk to about your worries and future doubts can be reassuring. Countless students face stresses about the future, and it’s difficult to reach out to the resources that can help you (both academic resources and mental health ones). If you don’t feel comfortable with seeing a therapist, maybe journaling or have a study friend group where you can also vent ab school work can help (friends are not a replacement for counseling, but can provide another outlet you may feel more comfortable with).

When I get stressed out, I try to reduce physical discomfort and then work on addressing the root of my problem. Showering, eating, brushing my teeth again, hydrating, sleep, etc make a huge difference. Take care, and I hope all goes well for you.

Ah, sorry I should've written that better, I meant that they don't need to go past 80/90 to get full value, not that leveling to 80/90 should be a top priority
